Hello fishes, is it a red flag when I'm the ONLY one on my team who's happy with the management, meaning my boss and my boss's boss? Other than the two bosses, we have 6.

Had to make a diagram for this lol. But are you asking about whether it is a red on your end, the team's, or the boss'?

like

Thanks. I'm asking for my end. I don't know if I'm just too new to see the problems because others have been with the company for over 10 years.

If their attitude affects the company and your job, then yes it is. But if they are still competent and efficient, I think you don't have to worry. You can consider it as a red flag if everything becomes chaotic because they are not happy with the management.

like

Not really chaotic. They told me they aren't happy with the management. But when I asked them if they want to leave, they said they like their job. Isn't that confusing? Lol

If I'm the only one happy with the management then I'd certainly be suspicious of it. Ask around why the management does not sit well with them. If it's not bad enough to make you want to leave then I wouldn't pay much mind to it. Maybe it's just a misunderstanding.

Honestly, some people just like complaining & other people easily adopt others' ideas. So it could be some of that going on, rather than them just really being unhappy with the management. If you're curious about whether or not you're missing something, it would be fair to ask what they don't like if the opportunity arises. That would give you a better idea of what they have seen or experienced to make them feel the way they do & how serious it is.

Hi. People Manager here. I've been one for 12 years now and I encourage my team to not be "yes" people. At this time, it feels like my manager wants me and my team to be yes people for her. How do I deal with this? I've never been a yes person and I don't preach this to my reports. I don't know what to do. Help?

Me, but not at work where most coworkers are introverts.

So someone I know asked HR about a boot policy. When he found out that there wasn’t one, but his boss said there was (who gave the guys $ for boots and the claimed it on his expense reimbursements as something else) the boss got mad at him for askingHR (and in trouble for the expense reimbursements) and then 2 days later laid off my friend. There appears to be no notice of bad performance and this person always was the first person on the job site ready to work. Thoughts?

As an experienced, SHRM certified HRBP , I would just like some feedback on your opinion of the differences in the roles between an HRBP an HR Manager besides the obvious that the manager should have direct reports. I am an HRBP and work in step with 3 HRM’s. They all 3 just got out of cycle raises of between 5-20% 😳 and I received nothing. I am quite aware of our HR code that salary is confidential but I was told about this. Would you be looking for other employment? Or stay?
