Has anyone seen or discussed this Petition for SHRM must support Black Lives Matter & the LGBTQ community? I’ve grown increasingly concerned and disappointed in SHRM’s lack of vocal support for employment protections for LGBTQ+ and black and brown workers, especially as a black woman in HR. It seems like SHRM is overly focused on what is absolutely “legal” and not what is right. I’m of the opinion HR professionals must not only be “legal” but have a relevant and compassionate stance
How do I answer the salary question in a recruiter phone screen? What’s a reasonable mid-level salary (raise) to ask for? A slight bump? Highball? Should I mention (a higher # of) what I make now?
So, I’m currently interviewing for new job, and market is not bad, but I’m anxious and I am interviewing for every opportunity that comes my way (director/vp level, tech). Today, September 30 I received an invite for an initial interview for another opportunity. So I applied to this opportunity through networking on August 10 (!). It looks like a red flag for me and I’m thinking thankyounext, but again it’s covid time... Thoughts?
How long, on average, did it take you to study before you could pass the PHR/SPHR exam? Did you think it was worth it?
Anyone actually keep their PHR active? I got my cert in 2013 and have done nothing since.
For those of you who spent the time and money to get the PHR or SHRM certifications, do you feel that it actually strengthened your professional capabilities as on HR professional, or did you just do it to fit into the “HR Professional” crowd?
What can I do to get hired at my agency? Ive been an intern for almost 9 months already and it seems like all I do is resize banners. I know I could leave but it is my dream agency and CONT.
Has anyone taken the PHR exam lately? What was the best test prep IYO? Online on demand , online live classes? Are the practice exams worth the cost?
Going to interview at Wolff Olins next week. Anyone have experience at Brand Consultancy shops compared to the more traditional agency setup? 🤒
Can anyone recommend a certificate or course that is actually useful for developing professionals and/or reviewing performance? I don’t want/need something that is just a credential, I’m actually looking to get some formal grounding in these two topics so I can overhaul processes at my consulting firm. Thanks for your advice!!!
I would like to help those wanting to shift careers in HR, minorities, or women going back to the workforce, learn workday coding and ultimately help them get a job in the space. Is there any interest?
After your DEI training what are the other things have you done to fill in the gaps? More training ? A speaker?

Do you partially base your performance on the strength of your relationship with your client? Mine is a sexist, cold bully who I can no longer stomach after 2 years. But asking off feels like failure
Is it me or does this Payless stunt come across at completely inauthentic, and also a rip off of like ten other ideas?
Hey Creatives, the more you climb up the agency ladder the more you become more like me, account.
Need more friends in the industry. None of my friends work in advertising so when it comes to talking about work, no one really cares/gets it

So trying to use a bonvoy suite night award for the first time. I noticed the suite itself isn't showing as available if I try to book normally. Does that mean I won't get it?
Finished Interviews and now HR wants references and to start a background check before a formal offer. But they emailed that their “max budget” for the role is $85K. That’s a pay cut for me...cont
i’m in between sizes for a skirt, but intend on losing weight (gained a few pounds from covid snacking 🥲), the bigger one would be too big once i get back to normal but the smaller one is snug (but not uncomfy) if i wear it after eating. what size would you go for?
Can you start working at another big 4 firm while taking terminal pto at your current one (during 2 week notice period), assuming that you are not on a project?
What’s the typical salary for a copywriter brand side? Not going to name the brand but it’s a younger, DTC company that’s growing. I have a little under 3 years of agency experience.
Anyone else slightly disheartened by the fact that you can’t really make more money except by waiting until your next promotion? Or was it after a certain point to where you were happy with it? Cont..
If you're interviewing at a firm that markets itself to laterals as a biglaw refuge with low billable requirements and quality of life is it okay to say in an interview that those are one of the reasons you're considering the firm?
So how many points did they give you?
Where are all those folks 2 weeks ago pointing to Florida, Texas, and Georgia as beacons of leadership for opening up quickly? Have your opinions changed, and do you wear masks?
Should I expect a promotion to essentially be in writing? This entire "promotion" seems to be theoretic over the last 6 months. I was about to quit yesterday and now the position I didn't think I was going to get is starting to come around;timing couldn't be crazier. Should I give them an ultimatum? I just received an insane offer but I want to stay.
Is there any advice for networking into projects when you don’t know many people at the firm yet? I always to help on BD work when I’m on the bench, but it never turns into any billable work. Every time I have talked to a partner/senior manager I was told I don’t have the skill set they’re looking for, but I don’t know how to build up from there. Feeing very lost but I want to improve my approach.
I took on some credit card debt to fix my house before selling this spring and now interviewing with a large firm that will run background check. Could this debt be a red flag for them?
2nd year associate here. Has anyone made a jump from a boutique firm to big law? I found out that I’m a front runner for a gig with an Amlaw 100. I never thought I’d have this chance having graduated from an unranked law school and still being so junior. Even though the firm asked if I’d be willing to start as a 1st year given my lack of litigation experience, it’s still a monumental upgrade/ jump. I’m nervous about the culture shock and whether I’ll cut it. Could really use some advice!
I’m currently am a core and advanced comp lead and thinking of getting another certification... would you recommend taking Learning or Talent+Performance? Long term goal is solution architect.
