Are there any fellow fish here who 1. Work for an org with an internal coaching program and 2. Have received helpful coaching through the program? I'm putting together a presentation and I need a few positive testimonials. Please share your experiences here! Thank you in advance.
Hey Sales 🐠, kindly requesting your advice. I have 4 YOE in customer success and 2 YOE as a presales solutions consultant, all in the health tech space. I’d like to grow into a sales role (e.g. Account Executive), but am not sure what a good next step should be. I don’t have any full cycle sales experience or a history of a meeting quotas, but I am comfortable in C-suite interactions. Any suggestions on what type of sales roles to consider next? Thanks!
I’m interested in furthering my career and I’m considering studying for the PHR or SHRM-CP exam. For those of you who are certified, do you have any advice and recommendations on which one you think might be better?
Hi All I am a Key Account manager at a company that manufactures and sells PPE. I moved to London a year ago and have built up a great pipeline and grown the company I work for exponentially. I am looking to move into SaaS sales or into the general tech scene in London as there is more room for growth and earning. My question is , how do I go about making the move into software or tech when all jobs require experience in SaaS. Do I have to take a step back in my career back to SDR or AE?
Anyone ever leave a job, start a new job and go back to their old job? Why? How soon? Did you get a raise when you went back? Let me know! Thanks!
The struggle is real...
Interviewing for post-clerkship positions. Term ends in a month. Top choice told me I’m the only person interviewing for an unposted role. The interview went very well. It’s been almost 3 weeks since my last interview with my top choice. I emailed internal recruiter last week asking for timeline. No response. Need offer status ASAP because I can pursue other opportunities through connections but I don’t want to use my goodwill unless forced. BUT I need to pursue those options ASAP too. Advice?
Got an offer from a judge on a feeder circuit, but he's far right and apparently not all that pleasant to work with. Help?
Any trial prep tips and tricks for an associate second-chairing a medical malpractice case for the first time?
Has anyone had success pivoting to a completely different practice area? How did you accomplish it? For reference, I’ve been practicing personal injury for 4 years and want to be doing entertainment law.
Hello Everyone! Had a discussion yesterday regarding “claw backs” being included in a policy for sponsorship if the new employee leaves before 3 years. It was a declining percentage over a three year period. My POV was that it wasn’t something I’ve ever done and didn’t seem like they were sure of the hire they were making. I get wanting to save costs but at the same time doesn’t feel inclusive or welcoming. Thoughts? Have you done this or seen it work? Thanks!
Anyone actually keep their PHR active? I got my cert in 2013 and have done nothing since.
Stay or go ? I'm at an early stage tech start up and gaining experience in an industry that I like. However, I am getting no formal training or sales coaching. Everything I've done so far (Inc. Targeted marketing and prospecting) has been self taught and I feel like I am lacking professional knowledge if I was to move onto a different company, especially considering that I am not involved in the full sales cycle.
I'm looking to get into management and I wanted to get an idea of what the average pay is for a software sales manager. I know it varies at level but possibly a mid market/enterprise level manager
Do you give a small gift/Christmas card to your direct partner or firm mentor? Or mentors from other firms?
I am going in house with an incredible opportunity. Why do I feel like a “failure” because I am leaving biglaw? I am happy but part of me feels like I’m weak and gave up and couldn’t make it in biglaw. Ugh
What do you check when asked to identify your degree level on certain documents? Masters, Doctorate?
I recently started at a larger software company as an AE. As I’m getting more into the process, I’m finding things odd. Like, cold calls and emails are metrics I’m judged on more than closed won business. I know that’s part of the job but it seems strange I’m judged on it so heavily. And, I seem to be the first real outside AE hire as everyone else seems to have been promoted up from SDR roles, including all of my direct management. I’m questioning if I made the right move. Stick it out or look?
Hi all, I’m looking for ways to develop myself professionally. I would love recommendations or tips on how you continue education in your field to stay relevant and continue to learn about different marketing strategies. Any tips on really good conferences, programs, classes, books, would be so so appreciated. I’m currently a senior manager for local marketing activations on a planned path to become a director. Thank you!
Are these EY ‘panel’ (with a senior manager and partner) interviews case interviews or just behavioral? Tech consulting / SC
Anyone know the salary range for a “Big Data Software Engineer, Senior Associate” at KPMG?
Top book recommendations ? Looking to be more well rounded. I am a consultant in the procurement space btw in case anyone has any supply chain book recommendations as well. Self improvement books too!
what's the firm policy for expensing health related purchases? I'm soon going to buy a bench, couple of free weights and a Fitbit. can this be expensed to the firm? if yes, how? Thanks for the help!
Quick question - can you travel with an Allen key in your carry on (for adjusting spin shoes in the road). It’s not sharp at all. Seems less dangerous than a pen.
Expecting a baby this summer. Should I still be looking for other job opportunities? EY has a very generous paternity leave if you’ve been with the firm for 1+ years, but not sure if I would have the same opportunity to take 2-3 months leave if I switch jobs. Can I potentially work parental leave into negotiations?
Would you rather stay in a niche that you’ve been doing well in, but you happen to find not too interesting, or try new areas and risk not doing as well? Ive been in pharma analytics for the last 4 years, receive good client feedback, good raises / promotion and have learned a lot. But I’m not sure if I want to continue in pharma long term.
How to start new job search process? Other than honing portfolio and just applying for roles, would you email recruiters first? Verse emailing CDs? Advice please.
Has anyone regretted getting a T10 MBA FT MBA? I already make 100k but am unhappy with my current job but the 200k cost seems scary. I’m thinking it’s still worth it because I’ve heard nobody regrets working 2 years less when they are older. Just wanted to get people’s thoughts
This isn’t anything original but I work in a small Southeast Asian country and would love to work in the states one day. Not necessarily anytime soon. Maybe in a couple of years but it seems near impossible to do the kind of work that would be worth any US agency’s time in this market. There are a bunch of really talented people here but for some reason the work just doesn’t reflect it. For those who made the jump across from a shit small market. How did you do it and do you have any advice?
What circumstances have to apply for you to get fired on the spot for getting a job with another big four firm?
Did a round of brand side interviews with a senior level team and want to write a thank you note that doesn’t come across too thirsty. What would a senior person appreciate in a note if they got one? They have all been there 10 plus years. Just thank for their times and reiterate what value I can bring to the role? Agency side is so lax I haven’t had to write one my last few jobs 😓
Fish, I have an interview tomorrow for my dream job. I'm not feeling like myself and I'm super nervous! Any advice? I just really hope I don't blow it 😖
What are the best consulting firms to work for in Chicago right out of undergrad based on salary and perks?
If you have a negative balance on your credit card (overpay every month) and use it until you go back to zero, do you still earn points/ cash rewards on your usage. Context: I am trying to see if I can essentially use my credit card as a debit card but still earn points at the same time.
