I’ve been told my company is changing my title from Associate Director of BD to Sales Executive. I’m concerned it reads like a title demotion. Is it just semantics? How will this look for my career development? Curious about the standard perception of Sales Executive from a seniority perspective. Where does this land on the sales roles hierarchy? For context, it’s a professional services firm, I’ve been there 3+years, and they gave a Sales Executive title to someone who just started 5mo ago.

How do I train my critical thinking skills? Any book recommendations?

Considering accepting a fully remote role and living in different cities for 6+ months at a time. Anyone else do this and have experiences to share?

What is the best way to gracefully exit a small firm where the senior partner is very high-profile, knows everyone, and is likely to be personally offended by my departure? This partner has also begun their term in a very public-facing and time-consuming position - 1 year term. I can’t do it anymore but I know it’s bad timing and I don’t want to burn this bridge. Help!

Just FYI, if you ever miss an issue in an agreement that you don’t catch until late in the deal process, don’t try to blame it on the other side to your client. You’ll get caught.

I’m a first year who just started this week. I’m about to turn in my first memo. We’re working from home so it’ll be over email. Maybe I’m over thinking it (I definitely am lol) but what should I say in the email!?

I feel like I can’t redeem my career. I’ve been out of paying work since I graduated. My bar was delayed due to a medical problem and since then I’ve only been able to find volunteering. I’ve been working for free for 2 years now. My network is tapped, my mentors are confused why I can’t find anything, my law school’s career services actually gave up on me, I don’t have the money to move to a new place, I have no other support and I can’t even go back to retail because nobody’s hiring out here.

If your employer mandated you need to come in 5 days a week would you consider quitting? My situation is I live in my geographical territory and the office is 45 minutes away. No performance issues at quota consistently.

Wondering if legal tech is legit or all hype

How do firms calculate how much parental leave to provide, either paid or unpaid. Or do they just pick a number, like “yeah they can get to know their kid in a few weeks and I couldn’t possibly have that attorney out for 12 weeks?” I’m at a small firm, no FMLA or state requirement. We get four weeks paid and four weeks unpaid. Would like to push for more but not sure how to argue costs side of it.

Im working on creating job descriptions from scratch. Is it illegal or not a good practice to take ideas from other job descriptions on the web? I won’t be using word for word of course - a paraphrase and adding our company touch. Any advice?

Do you still implement reference checks (on top of background checks)? I’m not convinced of the value add to the selection process and it takes a lot of time and resources

I prepared a presentation for an interview with a sales leader, it went well and I was offered a final interview with regional manager. The sales leader I interviewed with gave me a bunch of feedback, but said to find out information about tech stack, which I for some reason, didn’t consider. I come to find out that deep, hidden within the website of the hypothetical client, they use the service already. Do I roll into the final interview and play dumb or do i present and then come clean?

I know that the general advice is not to cut your own time, but if you think you took WAY TOO LONG on something should you? I don’t want partners to think of me as inefficient.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

Been in the strat game for over a decade; I’ve realized that a strong department with clear process that is built on end to end problem solving (with time to think) is when I’m happiest vs this award show / case study grind. Hi! I have 9yoe in startup, hyper growth environments. I have a strong customer Quality Assurance process improvement background. I want to shift into becoming more of an IC vs people manager. With that in mind, what steps would get me there? Should I consider a PMP or Lean Six Sigma certification? Any other ideas? I feel so stuck and need a change. Thank you!

I’v been in digital marketing for almost 5 years. I want to switch to marketing operations or research, because I find I’m better at and more interested in market research, audience research than keyword research or writing ad copies. I applied for some marketing research and operations roles, but no luck.

I understand I don’t have enough direct experience and platform experience, like Nielsen.

Hey team! So I was laid off from my SDR position about a week ago. A couple months back, I had an offer for a BDR position that I ended up turning down but I really liked and connected with the manager. Is it worth it to reach out?
