Am I being paid competitively? I have been the Onboarding Sup for my HR dept for over a year now and I’m being paid the state min for salary, which for CA is 62,400. I have not gotten a merit raise since the last 2 January’s, the state raises the threshold for salary folks. My company says that was my raise. Is this right? Im a pastry cook with 4yrs experience and the average salary start for this position is now at $22/hr here in vegas, especially in the strip. But cooking/baking is not my passion. So im changing into veterinary medicine and im seeing that the starting rate for a vet tech is around $16-18. Why is that?? Why are people in the vet med industry being paid so low?? Started a new job a year ago, high performer. My manager suggested a promotion to Product Manager since that‘s the work I’m doing, but that would be a 50% raise.
