Try speaking with the hotels general manager. Explain your stance, tell him that you're an extended stay business traveler and you've chosen Hilton for your multi week stay. Request that they comp you the mini fridge. Im sure they will.
You just need to climb high enough up the chain. Lady on the phone was some desk clerk with no authority. Talk to GM. Explain you're a business traveler making a multi week stay, that you'll continue to do so in the future and would like them to accommodate you by waiving the fee. They're not gonna waste losing a business traveler over $15 a night fridge. Guarantee the GM takes care of you.
Actually SA1.. these days thise things are pretty atandard in hotel rooms. Not sure why a Hilton would not have them specially at that price/night.
So I booked it myself under the stipulation that it didn't exceed the client's budget of $250/night. Currently, my rooms are under $250, but if I add the $15/night fridge fee, 2 of my 4 bookings will exceed budget. I didn't even think about fridge/microwave/coffeemaker until my colleague suggested I double check since I also thought these things were standard. So glad I did. Now starting to wonder if the room even has a fucking bed in it
I traveled weekly for over a year and tried different hotels. Never came across one that had a microwave. Some had fridges. All the hotels were over $200
@pwc1 you're a life saver, thank you! Just booked the rest of my month at holiday inn. 8 minute walk to grocery store, 2 minute walk to client, and it has fridge AND microwave in the room! Thanks so much!! Made my day 🎉😊
Oh. You're one of THOSE travelers.😐
I have a Hilton account but I don't have status with them yet. So I need to "work my way up to a fridge"? Lmfao
Sorry guys. Not to bitch. But this is going to be my life for a good length of time. So having no resources is fucking bullshit especially for that price. I would expect way more from "the Hilton", and think they're being absolute assholes and taking advantage of business travelers (and yes I've looked at other hotels and nothing seems to be an option either due to availability or cost)
Also if you have status with a hotel they'll give you anything you want
Next time stay at an "Extended Stay" hotel. There are nice ones out there - Marriott has Residence Inn, which isn't a luxury hotel, but I like staying in them for longer trips because I end up eating healthier and using the hotel room as a work station sometimes. It doesn't always have to be the W or Westin.
Hotels are routinely removing fridges. Places like the Hilton are not really meant for long term stays. They are luxury hotels meant for shorter term stays, and that's how they build their hotels (this no fridge). Try a hotel brand that's directed towards extended stays and you'll find they most often have these ammenities.
Annnnnnnnns they're all booked. Of course 🙄
Honestly I love holiday inn. They always have everything you need and more. They usually always have microwaves and fridges, free breakfast and pretty good service.
It only takes 4 nights to get to silver status at Hilton. You can easily get a fridge by then. But just curious, your daily meals during travel are not covered? Why do you need a microwave? Popcorn?
Oh 4 nights really? Didn't know that. I'll be getting per diem but I would like to stretch those dollars if I can. Why pay for a full meal every day day for six months when Harris teeter is down the street?
OP PwC CLT office is right across the street from the holiday inn. Def need to try Mert's downstairs for a treat. Delicious soul food.
Tell them you're a breastfeeding mother and need the fridge for milk. Never been asked for verification on that one
That is total bullshit. Did you book it yourself? Did someone book it for you? It is not normally something you think about when making reservations for business, but seeing as how you will be there long term, it should have been something that the hotel ahould have offered to provide or at least told you it was not available in the room unless you paid more.
Fridges for an additional cost? Did they at least have a coffeemaker?
