Up front so long as you don’t miss out on match.

Here’s a practical example, albeit with a Roth IRA but the idea holds true.

Depends on how your firm sets up your match. If you front load, you may miss out on full match.

Considering buying a townhouse in an ideal location but just found out there is an on-going lawsuit with the builders by the HOA (HOA vs builder) for construction defects (cracks in ceilings have appeared in some homes). Is it worth the risk? I don't know how these things play out and even if the HOA wins, what the fix to it will be..any experiences/thoughts?

I could lowball and maybe get a better deal, but not sure if it's worth it.

I can afford the payment just need to know is the monthly mortgage payment typical for a home in today’s market.

Thoughts on joining a boutique consulting firm during this economy? Is it typically viewed as safer or riskier than bigger firms? Sorry if this is a dumb question. I know many of the bigger firms had layoffs but I imagine they have much more in the pipeline/budget/resources whereas boutique firms may or may not have had layoffs (is there a reputable source about this online?) but have fewer of the other items.

Hello fishes,
I have joined ZS 6 months back as a AC but still I am not able to settle in the role provided to me. I am not having a consulting background either. Imposter syndrome and feeling of uselessness is at the top. I tried sharing the same with my seniors but they said it will get better with time. How do I gather my courage and motivation to work? I feel too lonely and left out

Hello Fishes,

I joined Capgemini a couple of weeks back for Capgemini Sogeti. What is the way to get into projects? How is the WLB and job security here?.

TIA..

Was told that "everyone has a personal life - it shouldn't affect one's work." I find this very thoughtless advice for someone going through a personal struggle (break up) during a stressful deal.

One of the team member has applied leaves for continuous 3 days this month. Later she applied for a 15 days leave saying a medical emergency. Both the leaves were rejected from her manager saying connect with HR. though she is on leave without PM leave approval and this is not even prior notice to the team.
Now'what and all would be the consequences she might face. Is there any chance of these things are being escalated? Please advise!

For those of you that believe in prenups (ONLY), at what net worth disparity do you believe a prenup to be necessary (assuming no family inheritances, trust funds, etc.)?
For example, if you and your partner were new grads and preparing to get married with $10K & $5K net worths, a prenup wouldn’t be worth it. But what about -$20K & +$30K?, $0 & $50K, $25K & $100K? When is a prenup worth it? If you are against prenups, I respect your opinion. However, this is not the post for your disagreement.
