Don’t do 100 per class year. Do $100 as an associate unless you’re biglaw.
As an associate, staff are employees of the firm, not you. It is the firm’s responsibility to compensate them/pay them a bonus. I generally gift my assistant something that costs around $100 as a token of my appreciation, but it has no relation to my compensation, nor should it.
Speaking as a paralegal, I have never received cash from attorneys. We get a bonus from the firm (ranges from 3-5k). Some attorneys may occasionally give small gifts like $100 usually in the form of a gift card but that’s not in lieu of the actual bonus from the firm.
At firms that I have worked for, the standard was usually that you gifted your assistant directly, but there was a pool everyone contributed to for legal assistants/paralegals with a suggested contribution amount. For your assistant it was $100 per class year but also depends on how much you use them.
I’d take 1500 and divy it up as you see fit. Maybe 2k.
@A1, it’s not like he’s pocketing that whole bonus. Takes take quite the hit. Whatever is given to staff is non-taxable

Every firm/group has different customs so your best bet is to ask your coworkers. I gift like an actual gift, not like a mandatory income supplement based exclusively on my own income or year level.
Good lord that’s an absolutely monster bonus lol good for you that’s awesome
If they're decent $100/yr. Actually good, more than that - minimum $750 for 5+ years
Our practice group's attorneys put money in the pool and divide it among paralegals. Between $250 and 300 for each. The partner that I work with the most gifted me $1k and I know he gave the same amount to his assistant. He also gifted me the same amount for the birth of my child.
First year with a similar-ish bonus. I’m in an office that generally gives cash, so I’m doing $150 for the paralegals and legal assistants I work with, along with a small gift based on what I know they like (like $20ish). My team is pretty small, so I also give everyone on the team chocolate and a card
I prefer cash but the most I ever received was $60. And that was on dl so others wouldn’t get their feelings hurt. Largest gift was a kate spade purse.
No less than $500 cash
I did $500 for my paralegal. Would be up to your discretion for the legal assistants.
I give $300 to assistant $100 to other staff that help (I barely use staff or my assistant but like them)
