Google Alma, Olivia Orley has been an absolute life saver for me.
Don’t have any therapist recommendations, but definitely good to talk to someone. Could talk to you ob too, or ask them for recos. Good luck 💪.
No recommendations as my PPA therapist was in CT (where my 1st was born). You’re not alone. Following bc I’m pregnant with my 2nd and now back in NYC so will likely have PPA again and need someone lined up.
Worth recommending adrenal support supplements. I take the Gaia Adrenal Health pills and they make a big difference. Also agree on the diet reccos above (I know it sucks) especially caffeine and alcohol. If you can prioritize and schedule things that help keep your nervous system calm like exercise, massage, sleep, supplements I think it’ll help. Good luck momma 💪🏼❤️
Really appreciate any guidance. ❤️
Have one I saw for years and loved but doesn’t specialize in PP. if you want her number DM me... at a minimum she’s very good at being honest to tell you if she can help you or find you someone that can.
(Separately 10000% relate as I had something similar and it’s debilitating). Sending you good energy ❤️
You’re not alone. Meditate with apps to get back to sleep or use weighted eye masks. Get as much rest every night as you can. Take your prenatal pills, vitamin d and calcium pills - your hormones are off and it will help. I found a social worker on psychology dot com. It has helped. Take it easy and remember you’re doing a great job. Your baby is loved and you’re a great Mom. 💛✨✨✨✨✨✨🌈
Not in NYC so I don't know a therapist near you, but I had PPA pretty badly. Lexapro helped get me through the worst of it and once it was manageable, I weaned off the Lexapro and made changes to my diet, started getting more exercise, found a therapist, etc.
My heart breaks for you and what you're going through. It's fucking awful. But you can and will get through this and back to feeling like yourself again. Internet hugs to you!
For me, I went through the allergen elimination diet. When I started adding foods back to test, the biggie for me was finding out that I don't handle gluten well. I don't have celiac but I'm pretty I tolerant. I wouldn't say gluten was THE culprit, but definitely once I started looking at my health overall, it was one factor in a whole bunch of things that I wasn't doing right.
Another biggie for me was alcohol. Mommy wine culture is a whole other issue but alcohol plays havoc with my anxiety. Two glasses of wine mess with me for days, so I just don't partake anymore at all.
I still slip from time to time on gluten and I'll even drink if I've had a super shitty day, but I've found that if I avoid the foods I'm allergic to, abstain and get some exercise and sleep, it goes a long way for helping control my anxiety.
Check out @ciaramburton on Instagram. She has an amazing coaching program that really helped me. I’ve done therapists, medication but she was way more helpful.
You may want to start with your OBGYN in the meantime. It’s not talk therapy, but they can get you on a low dose of lexapro or whatever is appropriate for you.
