Hello people. I have been working from 1 year with TCS. The work culture and wlb is decent, got a really good rating 4.7 on anniversary appraisal and multiple appreciations from client. The things is I was lowballed while joining and currently getting excellent offers in the market. Does TCS adjust compensation if I ask to match the market rate with help of one of the offers, without resigning? Tata Consultancy

Or a noun synonymous with category: Q-tip, Kleenex, etc. To your list above: Venmo. Also think that some of the social platforms (Snap, Instagram) have infiltrated through elements (ie filters) that have become larger cultural things.
@CW2 best example is Photoshop. Photoshop is a service/app by Adobe. Nobody says I'm going to Adobe that image. FaceTime is a service/app by Apple... Same logic applies. A brand is not always a company. It's anything... It's a person, place or thing. People brand cities (Las Vegas), people brand events(Olympics). Sometimes the words "brand" and "identity" are interchangable, thats because like a person's identity, a brand has a unique voice, point of view or function that it can claim as it's own. The stronger a brands claim to a particular thing it's trying to claim the more it becomes part of our culture and lexicon.
Hope this answers your question.
Juul yeah definitely. “Juul it bros". “Whoa dude juul yourself”. “I’m juulin like magullen.” Totally.
A brand doesn't have to be a verb to enter culture. Eg. Apple
👆 is bad at recognizing what a brand is.
Papa John:
Man, I really Papa John'd my interview yesterday. Never gonna get hired.
Why do you keep Papa Johning yourself, Sarah? You've got no one else to blame but yourself this time.
Alex thought he had sealed the deal with the client but turns out he'd Papa John'd the negotiation.
I totally Publicised last weekend.
Oh really? Please, do tell us about the FaceTime brand.
Like when you Papa John’sd by being a racist piece of shit. That’s def my favorite
What the hell is a Juul. And is this just an attempt to promote it?
FaceTime isn’t a brand. 🤦♀️
@CW1... It's a brand the same as iTunes, iCloud, Apple watch and MacBook pro is a brand.
I'd put Sheetrock and BandAid in the same category as Kleenex and Q-tip. Also Hoover if you're a Brit.
@Strategist you listed all the best strong brand examples! But don’t forget about Pinterest! ❤️

Is timberland a verb?
Is Nike?
Is apple?
@SD1: I think the Original strategist also meant that the brand becomes the generic name for the category (e.g. escalator, frisbee).
It’s quite the achievement to become such a brand.
Xerox
This is dumb. Brands are cultural objects to begin with. Some just mean a little more. And there are many ways to signify the importance of a brand.
Besides, there’s the Kleenex effect to mind as well
