A day after I sent my signed offer to an agency and putting my two week notice to my current agency, I just received an interview request from my dream tech company ever that will allow me to get out of advertising. Should I still take the interview? And what can I say if I want to keep in touch?

Take the interview if you seriously think you would accept an offer. If you get it you can revaluate if the offer is worth burning bridges, but what you don’t want is to live with what if’s. Just be sure to really think it through if you do bail on that agency offer.

If they wanted you now they’ll want you later. Just be professional about it.

I have a rule for this. If a position is going to change your life (money and/or dream role) than everything is fair game. You’re most likely on a at will contract anyway. For those people I’ve managed before, this is what I told them. One of them left much quicker than I wanted her to but she ended up at a dream tech company in her dream city for twice the money.

If it is a dream company then 100% do the interview. If it feels right don’t even hesitate to take it. Be professional and gentle when you reject offer to agency. Most people get that it is professional. You obviously won’t be going back to that agency for a while but in a few years people don’t even remember. CEOs change… people move on.. people that interviewed you in this agency may not even be working there in a few years so in a few years you may be able to interview there again if things don’t work out the way you anticipated. All is fair game. Look out for yourself just be professional in handling the situation.

Take the interview. The agency can and will replace you - especially in this market.

If it is indeed a "dream" do it! Obviously don't burn bridges if it can be helped.

100% do the interview! If you get it go there and if you dont you have your new job lined up either way. I have heard plenty of stories where there are noshows on the 1st day for people that accepted offers. (Not the nicest thing to do but it really isnt the end of the world for the company and in this scenario you will be at your dream job anyways)

Too early to decide yes or not, don’t bother now, leave the decision making when you have another offer from the tech company.

Getting out of advertising: can’t wait until its my turn. Good luck!

Always take the interview! You can decide yes or no if you get an offer.

Always always always take the interview

Update: had the interview and when the recruiter found I had another offer we decided to connect again in 6 months… the interview for the tech role will take 2 months… was this a stupid mistake?

How can I impress the senior strategist I am about to soon interview with for a junior strategy role? The role is opened cause the account is in a place to train and mentor a junior. I have 3 months of strategy experience from my internship, but going up against people that have 1 year of strategy experience and scarred they would want them more since they have the experience and don’t have to train them that much.

For folks exiting to FAANG / Product at start ups or really any hot company. How do you go about networking to get the interview? Do you apply then cold email someone you may have an “in”with, or are you picking say 10 companies and then having warm contacts there that you’ll ping when you see a job. I’ve been passively looking for jobs but zero luck, I only want to leave for the right fit. Big 4 here so feel my brand won’t auto get me an interview like mbb/t2

I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.

Currently in the US but interviewing for a UK-based firm and role. The comp level they are throwing around is £250k TC. Is this reasonable for a Director-level role with 12 YOE? My comparator would be wait 18-24mo to become a consulting partner - in the US that starts at $450k/£325k. For the purposes of this question, assume I’m optimizing for initial comp, not long term potential, and not livability, Intl experience, WLB, CoL etc. Thanks!
