Anyone ever fake a covid exposure to not go to a work event or team bonding event? A few of us at work aren’t thrilled about flying to HQ in a few weeks and we’re job searching anyway. At a recent event a few people said they’re “sick” & attended over Teams.

Our leadership says catching delta is “mild” and we can do “more research”. They won’t require vax cards. Some of our live in partners either don’t have insurance or have health concerns like asthma. So, coworkers don’t want to go either 😵

Sheesh. What company do you work for?? Our firm isn’t taking the most aggressive approach (not mandating vaccines) but it also isn’t forcing us to travel if we aren’t comfortable.

like

But also - yes that is a very reasonable lie. Do it and take care of yourself

like

Sounds like a good plan

like

I’m saddened to think it requires a lie. We can simply say we don’t feel comfortable traveling - we might get staffed to a different program if client demands it, but we aren’t scheduling any internal training or meetings in person yet that are not client related.

like

Seems easy enough

I forgot to clarify this mandated work trip is half a week long and is solely “team bonding”. Flying in coworkers from out of country and around the U.S.

I’m currently on a client trip so not too hesitant to travel at all. We just have strong opinions on why this is mandated at all right now.

I would lie to get out of any mandatory “team building” nonsense. If it’s aligning in the strategic direction and a working session, maybe, but cocktails, golf or other forced activities - 🤮.

What part of the ridiculousness between mandatory team building and lack of effectiveness combined with the delta variant is not apparent to your leadership?

I’m not afraid of traveling and I’ve been back in the gym since May of 2020 when it reopened. But there are calculated risks and, care for employee well being and acting smart.

So sorry OP.
