I get super sad and stressed, and drink a bit more alcohol while regretting my decision to even have this job in the first place (serious answer)
Thanks for the honesty... not what I wanted to hear though haha.
FaceTime is key, but more importantly, Friday-Sunday are key. Even though I’m gone Mon-Thursday, I actually feel like I spend more time with my daughter now bc I’m acutely aware that weekends are all we have. So she gets my full time and attention on the weekend and we make sure to pack in a ton of fun. Net net the travel has been positive for our relationship. Hope this helps :)
This plus be mindful of picking up the chore duty when you get back too so that your wife has more freedom with her day when you’re back
Have an awesome wife.
Luckily I have that
Make sure to FaceTime often, get a monitor you can check from your phone, be proactive in making your wife’s life easier, and most importantly enjoy your time off from baby duty
Take everything over weekend, let your wife worry nothing.
Quit and found a new job
Get on a 2/3/5 schedule. I also FaceTime twice a day which helps.
2 nights / 3 days onsite
Help your wife however you can, nanny, cleaning lady, food (chef / meal prep / meal kits). Like everyone else has said. Be fully present and engaged when home
Traveled most weeks for 9 months and couldn't handle it. Recently found a boutique firm which travels once a month. Got very lucky.
