I’m right at 40. I’d like to make a hop to client side in 5-ish years. It’s not that I don’t love what I do or don’t think I can hack it. At that point, I’m going to downshift into retirement planning and want to milk the highest salary with greatest bonus incentives possible. Unfortunately, I am reaching the top of my salary band where I am so there’s not much more monetary growth unless I make a major hop out of the ad world.
Stay! We need experience and maturity in agencies. Age is a myth perpetuated by each side. Stay in the game, we need you!
I reco you trust your talent and skills, join up with two other people you trust and work for yourselves. If you’re as good as you think you are then why not put those paychecks into your own pocket? I started my own agency two yrs ago and it’s been a great adventure and learning experience. Be the one who gets to make the decisions and say yes. You can always go client side so save that as a backup plan just Incase
