I feel you OP. Yes I am grateful, but I can be exhausted, overwhelmed and disappointed at the same time.
Yep. Well put. It’s not like we are ungrateful to have jobs, but telling us to be grateful isn’t exactly helpful.
Coach
Are you just signing in and showing up as available, but you're unassigned? If this is the case please just be grateful to have that salary.
I hope things turn around for you, and that you get better pay and a more meaningful job soon.
Yes we could be homeless. Agreed.

You could make 80 easily going to industry
It’s helpful to have perspective. Especially if you’re less than 5 years into your career. It’s just something you’re not interested in because you don’t actually want “help” you want to be told what you want to hear, which is that you’re right and your employer should pay your more. What’s the point in any of us coming on to this thread to tell a complete stranger she/he totally deserves the 6k raise he/she was going to get? Other than to stroke your ego that’s developed way earlier than it should? If you’re unhappy with your employer, find another job. If you don’t want to do that, then the best advice you could receive is to consider yourself tremendously fortunate that you are living in one of the most expensive cities in the world, during a global pandemic, and still have a steady stream of income coming in.
Yes correct not coming here for help or advice. Simply making a joke.
You’re employed at-will. Get a new job that pays you more money. Is someone forcing you to stay with the firm?
Tim Ryan won’t let me leave.
TIL that an experienced associate in NY is making the same as an S2 in the Midwest 🙃
PWC2 I don't know what you pay but rent in NYC sucks. It's definately gone way down since covid though.
I didn’t start my career at PwC and would have crawled through flaming broken glass to have the opportunity, pay, and brand recognition associates have.
That said, you’re right to recognize that in the grand scheme of educated white collar professionals B4 pay is mediocre weighed against the hours and the content of our work.
We are in literally a global crisis currently. Even baseball is struggling to resume games. I’d think carefully about why you’re bored. I mean this in the most non-aggressive way possible- no reason to continue doing this work once you can find something else.
You still have a job. I'm not saying the pay increase freeze rocks or our company has shown as much hurt as other industries or that its ever fun to be in public accounting. But if death and taxes are guaranteed, then so is a job in accounting. My best friend and sister have already been laid off. I'm not sipping Kool aid, just happy to feel safe about keeping my job.
Agree. Multiple people I know have had their base salary reduced by 20-30% or had furlough days imposed in the last couple months to avoid layoffs. Totally sucks, but on some basic level happy to have a job.
In the longer run if things don’t improve compared to the overall economy then no one would blame you for seeking out a better opportunity.
Get a new job then
What’s the salary bump for senior at Pwc?
“Nobody cares. Work Harder”
You have to be foolish to not look around yourself (in NYC of all places) and see how everyone has been -as you say- gf’d. You aren’t the only one. It was a safe bet to get your raise but things change and this seems warranted.
You are the one that chose to seek employment in NYC.
You are the one seeking to build your career and prof. experience / credibility. If you think you are worth more, leave and find something else or better yet do your own thing. That’s all possible...Take responsibility and recognize your own power to change your own circumstances.

Traditionally at Deloitte first years get a 5% raise into second year and gives us ~$100 pay increase per month. We are not currently getting fucked during Covid, we have been fucked continuously and predictably. Consistent with PY and our expectation, no additional risks identified!
