Alright, so I've spent my entire career in public accounting, where salary bands and raises are pretty predictable. Now I'm exploring opportunities outside the Big 4, and I'm feeling completely lost when it comes to salary negotiation.

In my current role, I know exactly what to expect based on my experience level and performance reviews. But in other fields, it seems like everything's negotiable. I'm worried about lowballing myself or coming across as too aggressive.

How do I even begin to research salary ranges for non-accounting roles? What are some effective negotiation tactics that won't burn bridges? And how do I factor in things like benefits, bonuses, and potential for growth when comparing offers?

There is almost nowhere to find reliable bonus information on Canadian firms. I’ve heard of year end bonuses ranging from 10-50% this year (not including Covid bonuses). Let’s start a thread posting year of call, rough billable hours worked and bonus as a percent of salary.
