I would suggest focusing less on the YOE and more into the job description itself. If you think your experience and skill set fits well, apply! A good hiring person should be able to look past titles and see a good fit if there is one, especially at junior levels.
Also, if you have any tips on how an advertising creative can get into film production, lmk! Looking to do the exact opposite path you’re trying to take.
Absolutely agree with you - I think he just hasn’t met the type of hiring person who sees beyond titles and years of experience yet.
How about getting into project management with a video specialty. So many videos happening.
This is a great idea! Definitely something to look for and makes the most sense given his skills.
Networking and doing whatever your friend can to get around the people in HR. HR people just want easy straightforward hires that make sense on paper.
If they are looking to be a creative (AD/CW) they will need a portfolio of spec work even to get a Jr position. No one in the industry will take a chance on your friend if they don’t have creative campaigns in their book. Especially when there are people just getting out of portfolio school who have 5-6 spec campaigns to show.
Definitely not looking to be a creative! Looking to go into account service or project management.
