Well, I know Amazon has a bunch of fun like little notebooks and mugs. Usually, I get my fellow engineers one of these each year and then I either get a gift card with it or some fun candy. You know that way they get the fun gift and then they get something. They actually want to use so that’s my plan again this year.

Not really engineer specific, I have been focusing on practical gifts that can be used. Usually a fancy or nice version of something, a coffee or tea, a food or treat basket. Is it the most unique thing in the world? No, but if nothing else it is an easy re-gift for somebody else!

I do like a good engineer "pun" that is useful. Coffee mugs, nicer office supplies, and simple tools like a tape measure are always useful.

We have a big project going on and I am the only point person(initiate it, did lot of work, and knows the deets well), seems like my mgr wants to get a headcount. But I want to use this opportunity to get promoted, how can I get this across? Mgr is new(they fired my old mgr), mgr’s mgr is new too(re-org). So not sure if I should/can make a case, or how.

Cavatappi in Roasted Red Pepper Cream Sauce

Tired of of the same old boring tomato marinara sauce? Try a roasted red pepper cream sauce!

Red bell peppers are roasted in the oven until sweet. It is then blended with caramelized onions, garlic, red pepper flakes, sun dried tomato paste, and cream into a silky, smooth and velvety sauce. Finish the sauce with a knob of butter and coat your pasta. Cavatappi works well here. Don’t forget to shave a little Pecorino Romano
