And I’m getting bombarded, as a person who likes to respond promptly with action and decisiveness, help everyone, and also give teams a heads up that working remote may affect this that and everything in between - it’s been way busier than I could have imagined. I kind of feel like managing communication remote has double my workload?

I’m also a remote worker and have worked with remote employees and vendors for a number of years. It can be shocking when you’re first thrown into it but you’ll adjust. The biggest piece of advice I have is don’t be afraid to over communicate, know when email or chat isn’t working and call for a meeting instead, and utilize video especially for internal meetings to stay connected and feeling like a team. Hang in there, it’ll soon become natural!

I’ve been PM-ing remotely for years. Yes, it’s harder. You have to communicate super clearly and hold others accountable to do things on their own without constant nagging/reminding. Make sure everything is clear and actionable in every correspondence and keep meetings brief but useful.

Totally. Definitely just a very stark and sudden adjustment from everyone together to every single person in a separate location - whenever I normally work from home and everyone else is at work it’s usually time I can actually focus and get work done. Not today babyyy.

I am planning on having quick calls with my team when needed - individually that is. It’s so much faster and cuts down on email, teams messages, texts

Ditto to Senior Project Manager 1. MS Planner / online Kanban boards are an easy way to support accountability digitally. Also, I’ve encouraged my peers to still engage in impromptu discussions/chit chat. The medium has changed, but the idea is the same. If someone is available, they’ll pick up or they’ll tell you to call back. FaceTime is my preferred medium - gives you an opportunity to read body language when they pick up.

Anyone else tired of the assumption that because you’re a partner you have to think a certain way and believe certain things. I’m talking about wokeness, work from home, and the recent ever constant pushing of the needle to the left or risk getting “cancelled”. I’m fairly liberal politically so for me to be saying this I think may say something for the current climate. I should be able to hold and express my own opinions without being quashed because I’m not “woke” enough.

Hi everyone! Hitting an all time rut with work motivation and burnout, with very long workdays (generally 7:30 am - 8 or 9 pm). Any tips that have helped anyone with this? Podcasts, books, songs or anything else that helps bring back the inspiration and drive? I am having a difficult time paying attention, being productive & just feeling overall detachment. Think there’s some low grade depression at play w/ the WFH situation & shorter/colder days, but I don’t have much control over my hours

Hi there - my company is returning to office next month. Hybrid to begin before they ramp up to 5 days back in office by end of year. I think the fact they want to bring us back 5 days is disrespectful considering how much work we’ve put in remotely over the last year. Not to mention productivity studies say people who WFH (and have no kids) are substantially more productive. All that being said, does anyone work at a FinTech/Tech company whose RTTO policy is more flexible? Looking to leave

Based off of Glassdoor, my salary matches Texas’s exactly and SF has the same role at 10k more. Should I show him the Glassdoor page? Don’t want to come off too strong. Please advise

Is it a bad look as a senior associate (on the path to manager within a year) to be driving an expensive car like a C7 or C8 corvette that is $70k+? I don’t think it is and here’s my rationale. I’m making over 6 figures, maxing out my 401k and IRA accounts with extra $ going to a brokerage account, I have a 3BR 1300 sq foot home with finished basement and garage for $170k. My two loans are only $240k combined. Heck most people spend more on a house alone. Work remote so vette isn’t daily driver.
