Sounds like an exciting trip for you and your wife!
Napa:
If your wife likes grandeur then go to Darioush. It is a sight to behold. They have wonderful wines but the winery and tasting area is amazing on its own.
Hall Wines is also impressive and has exceptional cabs.
Piazza del Dotto is a great spot for grandeur.
If you like cabs, you may want to check out wineries on Pritchard Hill. They are pricey but produce phenomenal wines. The views from there are also amazing. You will have to call ahead.
Sonoma:
For smaller wineries I would check out Lasseter (Sonoma), A. Rafanelli (Dry Creek), Scribe (Sonoma) and in downtown Sonoma there are lots of little tasting rooms tucked away. My wife and I found a lot of great places just by exploring the downtown area.
Something to keep in mind is that Napa tends to be less laid back then Sonoma. But both are very interesting and fun to visit.
Have a great trip!
