Any success stories of combination feeding (pumping/breast/formula) from birth? My first did not latch, so we exclusively bottle fed formula and pumped milk. I’m due with baby 2 soon and hoping this baby will latch. I loved the flexibility of bottle feeding but hating pumping. I’m hoping to triple feed this time around and struggling with what to tell the nurses at the hospital. Any success stories?

Please above all else get multiple lactation consultants to share their tips in the hospital and look into if your pediatrician has a lactation consultant in their practice or can recommend one for when the baby comes. My first one didn’t latch for five days until I found a knowledgeable lactation consultant who was brilliant and changed the feeding conditions for me and my baby. I have had several kids and every baby is different but the constant is each lactation consultant can teach you new tips and tricks and help you learn the way to create a latch that is comfortable for you and your baby. Wishing you success with your 2nd breastfeeding and a smooth delivery.

Hi! Do you mind sharing more About this? my baby is 3 days old and I’m So hoping to get him to latch! what was your journey like? We are giving him breast milk from bottle now

Yes. I successfully did a combination of pumping/bottle feeds and direct breastfeeding for the first six weeks because her latch was weak. At six weeks we had her lip ties corrected and her latch improved greatly so she was able to nurse. But, I went back to work soon after so she still bottle fed when I was away.

I pumped 3x a day at work, or 2x if I was able to see her and breastfeed at lunch. That tapered down as she got older (I didn't mean until 20 months). At home I exclusively directly breastfed because it was just easier.

I 100% recommend getting help from a good lactation consultant. Don't be afraid to ask for a new consultant until you feel truly supported.

I would suggest focusing on nursing for the first 1-2 weeks and then introduce a bottle. You can do breast and bottle from birth, but it can impact the nursing side if that is important to you. Most importantly, find a “bottle-friendly” lactation consultant. I had the best luck with going to a prenatal appointment to make sure I liked the IBCLC and their attitude towards different feeding methods.

My newborn would always fall asleep while nursing the first few weeks, and we couldn’t wake him up so we did triple feeding. Bottle // pump/ formula to ensure he was gaining weight. Girl that is no joke. It’s HARD and not sustainable at all. However, as he got a little older, we figured some things out (he’s 10 weeks now). I def hear you on the flexibility on bottle feeding but hating pumping. I’m in the same boat. I nurse him in the morning bc that’s when he’s most alert and then primarily pump/bottle feed throughout the day.

My son latched fine, but I also pumped and my son had no issue taking a bottle of pumped milk.

Just want some hope or I guess stories of success after having a miscarriage. I do have pcos so it’s harder for me to get pregnant.. but it still happened. Anyone have any thoughts or advice? Recently got my child's passport renewed. Child is minor so effectively a new passport. Here is the timeline, with just regular service.

6/2 Applied in person at the local county office
6/6 The application reached the State Dept
7/9 Got email that status changed to Approved
7/12 Received the new passport

End to end, a little more than 5 weeks. "Routine service can take 8-11 weeks" is the standard disclaimer. It's all good people!

I need to let it out but I’m so fucking proud of myself and I just realized how lucky I got and it took me until just now to see it. I started in the military and it only took 2 months for me to get out and fall into a bottomless hole of depression. My transition went from: $13 an hour part time, separation with the wife, new job at $18 an hour for physical labor, hit with disability diagnosis, then $20 an hour new office job, reconnecting with wife, having 2nd kid, nearly divorcing (cont.)

Last week I had to explain to my child what “politics” (as in office politics) is. My child is going to a new high school and wants to play volleyball. There was a 3 day open “tryout” for incoming freshman for 2 teams. After the first day, she noticed that
1) there were obvious favorites (coaches are not even hiding that fact);
2) some can’t even play and got on the team,
3) some that can obviously play but did not get on the team;
4) decision were obviously made before the first day was over.
