To me, any Telecom company is bad 🤣

You gotta read in between the lines here, dude/duddette. Though not directly obvious, my response is valid for several reasons: 1) OP’s tone when even considering a 10K jump suggests he or she may look for any related insights. And I know a thing or 2 about working with those tele company as a consultant and I did had a glance of its culture as I worked with its employees, so I say it. The culture is reflected through the people pretty well. OP can use it at his/her disposal. 2) There are lines of consulting where you are almost a part of the client (staff aug for example) that you almost know about the culture as if you’re an employee. 3) Believe it or not, a bad culture is a bad culture. A bad culture perceived by the outsiders (consultants) doesn’t always mean it’s bad for the internal employees. But a bad culture for internal employees definitely will be reflected as bad to the outsiders. Just doing the math here, there is a higher chance for internal bad culture in this case. And the several answers below confirm that.

I worked for verizon many years ago in their HQ. i would generally agree with the KPMG comment above, but to add some more: - very slow pace where everything moves at 1/10 the pace you are probably used to - your salary and promotions will be infrequent and not very impressive unless you get to the executive level - generally good WLB and culture, people used to WFH even before covid - My experience, you are sort of on your own to drive progress so great for proactive personality, but not good for someone who is used to working in a firm with structured training and mentorship

Sounds like you should hold out for a better offer.

Allegedly the culture = old school patriarchal, not a lot of innovation & resistant to change.

The culture around PTO on my 6-7 person team is one where: 1) no one (besides me) takes more than 1-2 days off a year, 2) people frequently brag about how little time off they take…”I only took one day off for my child being born”, 3) people make comments that I’m “always on vacation” (in the last 2.5 years working at my company, I’ve taken cumulatively ~4 weeks off). Team workflow is deal-based so it’s difficult to plan in advance for taking time off as deals often come up unexpectedly. Cont…
