Completely and totally miserable at my firm and just need a space to vent because my friends are tired of hearing about it. Freelancers, for a month long project that you were interested in, for a small shop, do you cut your rate/accept a fee for the full 4 weeks? And if so, by how much feels comfortable/fair for both? Let’s say your average day rate was about 1k a day as a base for discussion.

I used to care about and chase the opportunity to produce cool/fun/funny work. But, as of the last couple years..it’s just more about stability, keeping working relationships happy, building finances, i.e. it’s just a job. Not about pushing for the most fun creative ideas—I still do that—I just don’t care enough to fight as much if they don’t get it. Definitely still feel genuinely defeated when truly awesome concepts get glossed over by a client who has no clue what they want.

Am I the only person who has been super disgusted to Fishbowl’s response to the Meta layoffs? I’ve been laid off twice in my career but I’m not mad at 11000 people who no longer have jobs just cause they got decent severance while I got a week on my way out.
