I recently joined TCS but I was moved into very different project which was told during hiring. Also they told me for joining incentive but later after 65 days of joining they didn't give saying your business aproval got rejected. I really want to be with TCS but due to project dissatisfaction, I am looking for different job. I am not sure if I can leave the organisation soo soon(4 months) and it should not effect my carrier.

Ok... here's the hard truth. You must conquer or tame your anxiety. There is no getting around that. The world doesn't care about your anxiety. An employer will not want you to break down in front of a customer, so you have to prove you can handle yourself in an interview. However, you have the tools necessary to do this. Your confidence is the key. Don't try to "perfectly" answer the question. Take a deep breath and try to say a little less than you usually would. If you feel yourself rambling, wrap it up. Stick to your main points/limit too much detail. Also, deliberately slow your speech. Practice your answers to questions you anticipate. And remember you are perfect for the job. They should be happy to have you! Your anxiousness is a sign that you really want the job. Remember... say less, be confident, let them know you care/show your passion. You will get that job!
I followed all the advices I got in this post and it’s been working greatly my anxiety is always present but I’m doing so much better during interview, I will check out the STAR methof thank you 🙏
Pro
I’ve worked in Retail Banking for over 8 years, in a variety of roles, and suffer from Depression & Anxiety, so I can sympathize with your experience. What about the interview is making you anxious? Why do you feel you are perfect for the role? Are you afraid that your responses don’t make sense? Typically they use the STAR method with candidates (Situation, Task, Action, Resolution), so I would have a few customer service or service break answers on hand, thats typically what they are looking for. I may be able to put a referral in for you.
I’ve never thought about that, besides visiting to have a feel of everything it will also help out to know exactly where it is, my nerves be blinding me and I get lost on my way there. thank you
Take some magnesium before your interview. You can get packets of a magnesium drink called "CALM". It really helps (I drank a packet before an interview and it helped! Just be mindful of overdoing magnesium because it can have a laxative affect. Just take a single packet and drink it maybe an hour before your interview to give it time for it to work. Tapping can also help. Watch youtube videos on tapping and ask Chat GPT to generate a complete tapping script on overcoming nervousness for an interview and do it a couple times a day/anytime the feeling comes up and definitely the night before, the morning of, and right before your interview. Do it in the car before you walk in or before you leave home. Hope this helps!
Thank you, I have never heard of tapping before I will look it up and the magnesium sounds really helpful
Also... I recommend a podcast.. Think fast Talk Smart .. start with episode 183
Will definitely check it out
Preparation is key. I would find a family member or friend to help conduct a mock interview with you in advance and go over commonly asked questions in interviews. For example, what are your strengths and weaknesses? Can you share a time where you failed at a job task and how you handled it?
Your family or friend can then share on some key areas where you can improve your self marketing abilities. Over anxious thinking is a double edged sword to where it can either drown you in negative thoughts or enhance your perspective. In this case, use over anxious thinking to your advantage to anticipate what an employer may ask in advance. Best of luck to you!
A mock interview sounds better than what I’ve been doing over practicing by myself, thank you for taking the time to help me out l, now I’m going to put these advices into practice
Regarding anxiety, just remind yourself that job interviews aren’t life and death situations. The stakes are lower than that, so allow that realization to calm you. In fact, give yourself permission to fail, then watch yourself succeed.
lol honestly that’s what it feels like to me a life or death situation cause the second I get notified of an interview I’m on high alert
Honestly I went on antidepressants and it's helped a lot. I bombed 13 final round interviews due to nerves.
So another thing I've been doing is going on a walk around my neighborhood to decompress right before the interview and I think that's helped.
Days before the interview, pretend that YOU are the interviewer, and based on the specifics of the job, think about questions that you would ask of someone else. Then WRITE DOWN some answers, and take time to think them through (time you couldn't take in an interview). Then have some answers for things like: How would you handle xxx? How have you done yyy in the past? Then commit it all to memory. If you do it correctly, the interview will be a whole lot less stressful.
Thank you that way I’ll be prepared for the question I know they will ask
Have you thought about FIS or PSCU? They need Relationships managers. It’s a Payments/credit and debit card industry. Fintech
They are Velara now. Merged with COOP
I’d highly recommend a beta blocker for the occasional performance based anxiety. It’s very mild and helps prevent spikes of anxiety that make it hard to talk during interviews.
I looked it up,Will ask my psychiatrist about it since since it’s prescription only. Thank you
I am sorry you’re going through this. I have anxiety as well (GAD & panic disorder) and have worked in a similar role to what you’re looking at. Like others have said, have confidence in yourself. Here are some of the things that worked best for me during the interview process:
Research - the company, role, potential interview questions, and news/current events in the industry
Prepare good questions to ask (a variety of questions & ones that answers wouldn’t be available on their website)
Practice interview questions - I write down the questions & my answers like a writing prompt. Then, I write bullet points with key points /topics from my answers. After that I practice answering the questions out loud (mock interview or you can record on your computer). You can ask friends or family for feedback.
For zoom / phone interviews- get a quiet place set up ahead (check internet, video background, audio, etc) and put reminder sticky notes on the wall behind for key points
For in-person: practice the drive if I don’t know the building/parking situation, and arrive early. Listen to positive music in the car and take a minute to do breathing exercises in my car before I go inside.
Most importantly, just know that you are qualified and they would be lucky to have you. It’s their loss if you don’t get it. Remind yourself of that throughout the process.
I recently learned about mock interviews after someone suggested on this post, and yes they always ask if I have any question after the interview, practicing the drive to get to know the location is a great idea cause my anfiery be getting worse on my way there and I end up getting lost even when the building is right in front of me I can’t see it. thank you for these advices
