Yes. EY insurance does not cover it. That being said the most important thing to establish is that 1. both want to make it work, 2. For the right reasons, e.g not kids or societal shame but for each other, 3. Move on from the past, forgive and forget about it after 1 and 2 are established. Get strong extended close family support (if they are vested in your success) from both sides as appropriate. Honesty - don't lie or hide from each other. Initially it is tough but leverage the counselor to complain/vent when required. Don't complain to anyone outside the inner circle (you, spouse, counselor) and don't take anyone else's negative suggestions. A few cents from my experience.
My wife and I went to make our marriage stronger. So we had a common goal and it was good to have a neutral 3rd party listen and provide guidance. We started off doing weekly sessions and then downgraded to every two weeks and then monthly until we stopped once we felt comfortable. Overall helpful and I would recommend it.
We used my insurance which is Cigna. I have to pay up to my annual copay after which insurance kicks in at the percentage based on the selected plan.
