Anyone else feel like you come up with these amazing ideas, only to brush it off... Then fast forward a few years and see that it's now an $XXX million dollar company, getting another round of funding by a bunch of VCs and ramping up hiring of their 500+ employee base?

This is literally the 10th time this is happening to me. WTF am I doing with my life?!? Why am I stuck a slave, instead of following these persuits?

Reminds me of the final year project my team and I worked on. Built a remote controlled“micro-unmanned aerial vehicle” and detailed some use cases/applications for it. Way way way before drones became consumer products. I genuinely thought we had something promising in our hands and wanted to push for a patent but neither my mentor nor my team wanted to put in the leg work for it. I started doing this myself but then landed a job and priorities shifted. Only to find out these damn things were going to become super popular years later.
So it’s not only you. But it’s also not only you that’s coming up with these great ideas. People have great ideas all the time. Executing on them is a whole another ball game. So is scaling it. So what you’re not doing is taking on the risk involved with execution. Maybe try this with one of your ideas. Take it as far as you can before your risk controls kick in.

Great response D1! We watch shark tank all the time and have new ideas from time to time, but we both have full time jobs that we passionately pursue & not enough motivation to push the ideas further to implementation. But, we also mock ourselves while watching shark tank for doing nothing about those ideas. You really articulated that so well!

It shows that action is more important than knowledge. What prevented you from taking action on that idea? For most people it’s fear.

I came up with the basic idea of Pinterest about 5 years before it was created and everyone laughed at me when I shared it with them. I let myself get discouraged by people who couldn't see the vision and I let go of the idea.

Maybe start patenting those ideas so you can still profit from them? It also takes work but you don't have to actually fully develop it.

6 minute abs and we give you the 7th minute free.

Idea by itself doesn’t cost that much. That is why angel investors do not put money im ideas, unless there is a team and plan to execute

VC’s invest in teams and people not ideas. A strong founding team can get any idea off the ground I.e. my pony marketplace. You’re thinking of this the wrong way.

That’s why an idea is worth nothing.

It’s the easy part.

Many people have ideas, the same ideas. It’s what you do to get them from idea to tangible. Sounds like you are in day dreaming mode and don’t think how to execute on them

It’s not hard to come up with ideas. The hard part is doing something with them

Hi! I have worked in management roles in tech, mainly in analytics, for approximately 10 years. My TC has fluctuated (currently around 135K CAD), but it seems like it's relatively easy to breach the 100K bar, but hard to breach the 150K bar. I now work at the CBC, but I have worked in the private sector too. What is the most realistic way to move to 200K? 1) Continue moving the ladder to a VP position, 2) Switch to Pre-Sale, 3) Switch to Consulting, 4) Work from a U.S. company from Canada.

I have been a PM at my company for 2 years now, with a years prior experience as associate PM. I got promoted before my certification, but was told if I did not get a PMP or ACP I would get my promotion taken away.
Received the ACP and have not seen a raise. Now we have a girl that is getting a 15k raise and going straight from Project coordinator to PM (with one year experience) and no certification. She will now be 5k less than me. If she gets CaPM she gets a 5k raise. Wong to feel slighted?

Anyone looking at traveling to Costa Rica? They have a list of states from which they will admit tourists while also requiring a negative covid test, health history, etc. As someone not on the approved list, I am bitter and curious why the population is grouped at a state level when there are massively different rates of infection within each state (not to mention personal responsibility) and you are already required to present a negative test.
