TBWA NY layoffs today.
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
I’m sick of living in NYC but can’t go anywhere.

McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

Idk specifics about Accenture but at McK we have to get a note from a doctor for long term disability. That note is sent to a third party to evaluate its legitimacy. Then HR gives you the green light and you’re off for the agreed upon weeks/months. I believe pay is 66% or something like that of your usual monthly paycheck. You keep all health/insurance benefits.

Oh, that’s super interesting. Yeah a doctor note would be given. Thanks for this. I appreciate the help. Trying to get feedback here before going to HR, so thanks for being patient.
It’s FMLA, so you can’t get fired and they work it as LTD through a case. Start with HR, bc every firm will have different practices/partners for the process.
Correct. You can be fired the second you return from FMLA or disability though. It’s not a good look, but it’s perfectly legal.
I am going through something similar now if you want to DM. I may not have all the answers, but I have some.

We are similar to McK at Accenture for this. There is a policy on the portal if you want to read, specific by country.
Start with your HR Partner, or your People Lead can help. You can actually start the process if it is medical related on-line. A leave specialist is assigned, and they coordinate everything. There is a checklist for you to follow on-line as well.
We use an outside insurance firm that does the coordination with your medical professionals. If they approve, it's approved.
Your primary contact will be the leave coordinator for Accenture issues, (MyTE, return coordination, informing your talent lead...). The insurance firm nurse coordinates your care issues. (Length of leave, Short Term vs. Long Term, paperwork from doctors...).
I may be making this sound complex, but it isn't in real life. The initial registration takes about 30 minutes if not an emergency. The follow-up call with the coordinator takes 30 minutes, the insurance company nurse about 15 minutes twice in the first week, then nothing to do but get well and talk to the nurse for 15 minutes once a month or so. Then 2 calls to get rescheduled for return.
