I spent about 17 hours total interviewing with a prestigious lit boutique in Feb-July 2020. Four rounds, including visits to their NY and DC offices (pre-lockdown). Met with 30+ attorneys in total. They never gave me an answer.
May I ask why you’d want the role so badly at a place that you feel is disrespecting you (and, IMO, rightfully so)? Has there been any contact or just ghosting? Because I’d seriously question if things are better if this is how you’re feeling before even stepping through the door...
No, I mean it’s rightful for you to feel they are disrespecting you. Sorry, that came out wrong!
If I understand correctly, you are unemployed. Unless I learned something terrible about the firm and the people I’d be working with (not poor HR etiquette), I wouldn’t be withdrawing myself from consideration

I had a similar saga. I had a “final” lateral interview and it took over a month, maybe two, to actually get an offer. After the “final” interview I had two additional interviews (“oh, partner X wants to meet you before it is official, it’s just a formality,” multiple phone calls / emails exchanging information, etc.). It was clear in retrospect that they were unable to decide after what should have been the final interview and were interviewing and considering others. I did eventually get the offer, but it should have been a red flag. I could tell after I joined that I was not the first choice of some of the partners and it was subsequently a huge battle to get them to even acknowledge me. Turns out I was a proxy in an office politics war.
Thanks, this might be the case here as well. I have received positive feedback but understand another candidate came in at the last stage, who they decided to look at (and subsequently others too). Hugely frustrating but I don't have the luxury of turning them down on that basis!
