Hi all, have been approached about an interesting buyside opportunity but have a few q’s. I’ve currently got a role in an alts investment team (pe primaries, and a little secondaries) at a bulge that pays well starting in Jan. New offer is at a sub-$1bn fund and a bit hybrid investment team and firm strategy. Does anyone have insight to the Secondaries/Primaires comp range from VP up (salaries, bonus, carry, etc)? I feel so many of my big law co-workers purchase homes $1M+ homes as senior associates but I always struggle to believe that I will be able to do the same. I started saving aggressively this year as a midlevel but still feel so far away to be able to comfortably afford. Additionally, I always have a fear of job loss due to my own parents losing their jobs in 2008 and essentially growing up with no resources.

I am a mid/senior associate on a very large and complicated case (multiple districts, tons of defendants, hundreds of depositions) finding myself spending hours and hours just managing all the moving parts. Making sure people are doing what they’re supposed to be doing, tracking down inconsistencies, keeping track of to do items. How do I bill for these? If i am not careful, I think it is easy to sound like I’m doing admin tasks (keeping track of things) when I am most definitely doing more
