Anyone had a experience asking for an office transfer as a result of pregnancy? I am about six months along and finding it harder and harder to manage. The father is in CA and can’t leave for another few months. My family is there as well. I’d like to just work out of the firm’s CA office until I go on maternity leave. Not sure how to frame it, would be helpful if anyone has done this or has any ideas.

Are you wanting to stay in CA after your leave or come back to current office? If you’re coming back, I’d be pretty miffed if my firm didn’t agree to working out of another office temporarily for a few months for really valid reasons. A lot more firm dependent if you’re wanting to make the move permanent. At my current firm they do a ton of cross office staffing and would be totally fine with the transfer, but at a prior firm billing and partner credit, etc was very tied to each specific office so stars would have had to align for them to approve a permanent transfer and lots of hoops to jump through.

Are you licensed in CA and if not is 3 months long enough to raise any unauthorized practice of law issues?

I am not licensed in California which I think is the biggest sticking point. My understanding for California is that it’s not necessarily time spent but other factors such as whether you represent California clients, hold yourself out as a California attorney, etc. In other words, it’s complicated. Honestly at this point if I’m not able to transfer somewhere where I have more support I might need to take leave. I have cripplingly bad pubic symphysis pain that is making it really hard to even feed myself, so hopefully they’ll be willing to work with me in terms of figuring it out.

Hey guys, so I have competing offers. One at Bank of America for 124, and one at Allspring for 110.

Does anybody work at Allspring? They did not provide any information regarding benefits, 401k match, or any annual bonus structure. I was told, verbally, that the Bank of America bonus is something like 15 to 20%, but nothing in writing.

Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge about compensation structure at Allspring, or any opinions on the culture there. I would be in Charlotte.
