1950 is goal, but I have worked there 4 years, never met my hours, and have received substantial raises every year based on quality work product and performance. However, i think this depends a lot on which office you will be in and who you work for. I have been happy at the firm. People have been respectful of my time and do not expect me to work weekends or after hours, which is a first for me.
Absolutely no. IME, they are a sweatshop. Massive hours requirement, low comp pay/bonuses, and serious micromanagement.
The Wilson Elser attorneys i litigate against invariably tell me they are "living the dream"
They’re being sarcastic. I used to work in-house at a major railroad and that was the standard response from people asked how their day was doing. Lol.
Take it as you will but my friend used to work out of the NY office. She is not practicing law anymore.
1900 hours and shit bonus that nobody goes for. 10-15k cap on bonus. Otherwise, your experience depends on who your group leader is
Not an attorney but I’m told they work you to death

The typical hourly requirement is 1950 for an associate which isn’t that bad. Every office is different, so you’re going to have different WLB and micromanagement at different offices. Most offices allow associates to work from home 1 day out of the week, and non equity partners (of counsel) to work more days from home, or completely hybrid. The pay isn’t going to be cravath scale pay, but will be higher at WEMED since it’s a national firm AM law 200 firm.

Ah got it
Good pay at WEMED?! Hours expectations are 2000+
Expectations vs what they state are required are two different things. I didn’t know anyone billing sub 2000 but that may have changed
They are recently trying to poach from LBBS (for obvious reasons) and other large ID firms. Apparently offering high salaries and lowered billing requirements. Experiences in these sweatshops always depend on practice group IMO.
I can speak for the LA office. I’m no longer there but from what friends say, it’s still constant associate turnover. The pay is absolutely not worth the hours actually expected if you want any sort of raise/your pick of the type of work you want. There are some really amazing attorneys there but also some horrible ones. New office managing partner may be a psychopath.
I’m a contract attorney at WE, temp to perm. 40 hours max per week. Interesting high end work, bright and engaging colleagues, and excellent IT support/training. Tremendous opportunity due to client base. I’m fully remote. I have not at all found Wilson Elser to be a sweatshop, at least right now, so wanted to weigh in.
