McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

Any Analysis Group fish willing to share your experience the company? I am a current business school student exploring opportunities with the firm post-biz school Analysis Group. Are the cases at the interview similar to that of other firms/casebook? I understand on the high level what’s the difference between AG’s project versus traditional strategy shops but wonder if you can elaborate on this.

Definitely. Usually client-facing (depending on role) and really does skew more towards a start-up culture. I have never heard of someone complaining about being looked down upon by the traditional consulting people. Everyone I met during recruiting was brilliant and passionate about the “solution” they were aligned to. It is very tech focused (think product management, software development, testing, agile). Projects also vary in time and depend on the solution. Some folks are on the road M-Th, others not at all.

Agree with IBM1. I just moved into Solutions from the traditional path and am loving it
McK2 what do you love about it that’s different from what you did before? Is Solutions the same group as New Venture, or how are they related if at all?
Is this the same as McKinsey New Ventures (and McKinsey Org Solutions)? Been digging for info too!
Talked to them before. They are On consultant track but have to fight for it to be recognized. Work is interesting. I didn’t jump as comp was slightly lower and I didn’t feel it was a good culture fit
So I come from an engineering background. So building and leading a solution is a lot more like product development, which I enjoy. But I still get to do a lot of client work. My solution isn’t part of New Ventures, but many are. It’s a little confusing, even to us how things are all related. There are 9 different “pathways to partner” or tracks that you can be on. Some of them fall in New Ventures, but not all. Not sure if this is helpful, if it’s hard to be specific and stay anonymous. Drop a burner if you want to talk more
