Anyone here nervous about sending kids to school in fall? I’m ok with it (I’m on Long Island) but my in-laws keep telling us we’re making the wrong decision and should home-school. Is it or me, or should they stfu and support us no matter what decision we make?

In laws should always stfu. If you see the school is doing their diligence, you gotta make that judgment call.

Agree. Boston here (but from LI originally!), sending kids back, remote model is what our district is doing until mid oct, then into hybrid model. Two working parents here, no ability to effectively home school...

We opted for online for Fall and will likely stay that way until Spring term

Long Islander here. Personally I would homeschool or try to do online learning. How old are your kids? I feel really bad for the kindergarten aged kids right now who are missing out on socialization that the classroom could provide.

To answer your question though, no matter what you choose your in laws and parents should stfu.

I’ve got a 2 yr old and 5yr old so really feel like the 5yr old needs to go to kindergarten. Remote learning was not working very well last spring. And we are keeping the 2 yr old home.

I know this sounds weird, but I think my fiancé has my tech tapped… I journal and write short stories that I’ve used as an outlet for years. Way before I met him. Lately, it feels like he repeats things that I’ve written or said over the phone. For example, I’ll tell a friend that I want to visit her in San Diego. Then, he’ll come home and say I should visit my friend in San Diego soon. Am I paranoid or is he really listening? I feel violated and exposed. He doesn’t have a tech background.

Spent the pandemic working on myself, got sober, focused on working out, left the music industry and started a career where I can make money and have a steady work schedule. Maybe this isn’t everyone’s version of “growing up” but that’s what this was for me. Now that I’m vaxed and seeing my friends, it’s clear we have little left in common, and honestly a lot of the things they do straight up embarrasses me. I don’t want to lose these long term friends. Has anyone else been in this situation?

I’m hosting family from America in my home in Europe this week. Being away for just a couple of years has made me really aware of American tendencies. They always complain about their knees and feet even though they’re also only in their mid thirties. I’ve decided to no longer host friends/family from America because it’s always like this 🤦🏼‍♂️ 🫃🏼

Our 5 month old started daycare about 5 weeks ago. We’ve already had to keep her home for 2.5 of those 5 weeks due to catching various illnesses (croup, rsv, brinchiolitis, etc). Both my wife and I have been sick most of that time as well (gotten it from the baby). Wife is thinking we get a full time nanny for the next 4 months to help the baby build antibodies. Cost aside, is this feasible / worthwhile to go thru the effort / finding the right fit, only for 4 months?

Question on UK visa-
My partner will be traveling often to London, once a month for an year starting September. He is getting his visa through work (10 years, multiple entry, 6 months max stay, cost some $1000).

I have applied for standard tourist visa in the past and they are usually short term. It could be max 6 months, but they see your itinerary and allocate you few months around the itinerary

Is there a way to get 6 months multiple entry visa, if I were to join him once in a while.
