Anyone here that has taken international tax I at NYU recently? I’m studying for the final right now and have a couple weeks till the exam, but I’m wondering if I should just review the international tax in a nutshell book rather than reviewing lectures/slides. An adjunct has been teaching international tax I the past couple years and I’d heard the prof wasn’t that great, but still signed up anyway. It’s a multiple choice exam at least, but I’m still concerned and would appreciate any advice

Not NYU LLM, but do have a tax LLM. International Tax is a very hard subject. Whether you review notes/slides, etc, depends on your honest assessment of how comfortable you are with your understanding of the concepts and ability to answer questions. It cant hurt to read things over again. It took me several reads of the material in Nutshell to finally have a high-level grasp of International Tax, but I'm a slow learner.

Redo all of the problem sets a few times. I did that, in conjunction with reviewing US International Taxation by Postlewaite (which was not the assigned text for the course, but much easier to understand), for International Tax I, II, and III at NYU.

Steines is the one who isn’t that great? And the adjunct is Shaheen? I got by just on Shaheen’s class and exercises, didn’t do much review - A-.

Shaheen is not great

Is it Shaheen because I took it online and it was brutallllllllll.

I took the version recorded during covid. Between his accent and the mask I literally couldn’t understand him. I also took it during the summer so the timing was tighter.

You should probably try to find an outline, but yes, reviewing the nutshell book is a great starting point

I should add that I didn’t take international tax during law school (I took practically every other tax subject i.e. partnership, corporate, etc.) so that’s probably contributing to why I feel concerned

Has anyone dealt with stuffing allocation in a non-hedge fund context? It seems even in the HF world the law is fuzzy in using aggregate reverse 704c principles in stuffing allocations.
