What's next after healthcare for you all?
Hello All,
I have recently joined FIS Global around end of April. My mother recently met with an accident and she needs to be operated.
I haven't been able to update the anything regarding the insurance part yet on FIS portal.
Will my mother's treatment be covered under the insurance? If yes, what's the procedure for the same? What are the documents that I need to submit in order to claim the amount?
Can anyone please guide?

Welcome to the light.
That and escaping the billable hour!

I’m at a firm which does ID and have billable hours, which the clients love to cut.
I sometimes think that way but I also hate being blatantly lied to at every single deposition.

I took a plaintiffs case on the side where I represented a little girl who had something horrible happen to her. I ended up winning and the girl will now get the treatment she needs. It was the most gratifying experience of my career. It was the first time in my career I actually cried over a case. It really opened my eyes.
Yes that’s wonderful! The majority of the cases I see involve subjective soft tissue injuries, over treatment, and lies. It makes you really jaded after a while.
I came from PI and will always advocate to pay plaintiffs when it is deserved.
However.... when they or their attorneys lie about the necessity of treatment or the extent of their injuries I become extremely irritated. I am lied to in almost every deposition. It's frustrating.

Defense counsel lies as well. Plaintiff always had a preexisting condition, is lying, and is generally a horrible person. It doesn’t feel good deposing the spouse of someone who died and trying to slam their character.
Yes and no. I’ve had my fair share of plaintiffs (I’m in ID) who are so clearly exaggerating injuries and treating with multiple providers for extended periods of time despite objective reports from the providers that the patient has improved. I have no doubt people can be injured, none at all. And I know they almost always are. But are all of them as injured as they say they are? Nope.
My favvveeeee thing to do is find inconsistencies in the medical records and nail them with it in closing. It sucks bc again some people truly are hurt. And lying plaintiffs take away from potential awards for truly truly hurt ones.
Yes. I was an ID lawyer that worked on catastrophic cases mainly, but also some run of the mill injury claims. After I made the switch, my wife noticed I was much happier. I hated billable hours, getting fees cut, pinching pennies for insurance companies and self-insured corporations, and having non-lawyer 28 year old adjusters effectively being your boss on smaller cases.

Just got an offer! So ready to stop doing ID after 6 years, and I just enjoy plaintiffs work much more (done a handful of cases at my current firm).
