Westin Lagunamar was great
Rising Star
Kind of weak properties down there unless you like the resort factory style hotels. Generally the JW or Ritz are the top two with a slight edge to the JW. The Westin is also a timeshare property and they’re always running specials for like $300 for 4 nights if you attend the presentation.

That said, there’s also luxury collection haciendas on the Yucatán peninsula that everyone raves about. They’re not on the beach however.
Also, if you have Hyatt points or chase points the Andaz Mayakoba is amazing. Highly recommend.
There are two Westins in Cancun, Westin Lagunamar is much better than Westin Cancun
So I stayed at Marriott Cancun for 3 nights. It's an okay property, nothing outstanding but have all things you'd expect from a beach resort. A spa, decent eating options, pool beach, and jacuzzi everything. We got upgraded to suite and had no complaints. Now I didn't stay at the JW but since JW and Marriott are connected with an inner walkway it's super accessible. All 3 days we hung out at the JW bar in the evening but used marriott pool and beach all day. I mean if that's the purpose of your visit and you can save some dime staying at Marriott just got for it. If the difference is not so much then pick JW. Either way both are NOT outstanding properties.. they're okay and you'll enjoy.
We are heading out to Marriott at the end of January, Marriott is about $300 cheaper than JW for a 5 nights stay
The JW is awesome!!
I heard JW is great
This post + responses = helpful 🍾🍻🥃 now I’m going to see about getting down to Cancun
