No experience with Heidi, but I did go with Fortuna. Got into Wharton, so I’d say they’re pretty good
A1, what did they help you with specifically, if you don't mind me asking? I'm trying to figure out what value they add since a lot of the big things, GPA, work, etc. they can't really change
C1 They were most helpful in helping me craft/articulate/refine my story and post-mba career goals. And, specific to Wharton, they were helpful in helping me prepare for the TBD. (The Fortuna founder is an ex-Wharton AdCom)
That said, I think it’s less about the consultancy you go with and more (WAY MORE) about your rapport with the consultant you choose to hire. My consultant and I worked very well together. And that made it a lot easier “ideate” (I hate that word) and craft my story. I also got into Booth and Kellogg, and was waitlisted at Sloan.
@Assoc1: Tough to say from my perspective TBH. I did a la carte because I was pretty confident in my understanding of my apps problem areas and strengths. Confident, not because I’m amazing or anything (I am not), but because I had some great help from my husband. He went through the process a few years ago (he went to Booth and was an admissions fellow there), so I leveraged him as needed to keep costs down.😏 That said, IMO if you take the time to sketch out your application (goals statement, resume, etc.) before meeting with a consultant you’ll get a lot more out of those initial conversation than otherwise. And, you’ll likely discover that a la carte is all you need.
Gotcha, very interesting! If I dropped a burner would you be willing to answer some more in depth questions about your application experience as I gear up for it?
C1 Happy to! Drop away.
@Acc1: I’m a year away from applying and torn about what level of service to use. I do need help with essays and crafting my story. Should I go a la carte or actually pay full service?
^very helpful! If I want to learn more about the admissions process of a school and how my profile will be viewed in the context of my peer group, would I get my money’s worth from an admissions consultant who used to read applications at that school? Let’s say for the sake of argument that the target school in question isn’t well populated at my firm.
@Acc1- thanks so much! It's burnandthrow123@gmail.com. Really appreciate you taking the time.
