SS1-oh please, you can say that about every single level at a firm. It's just the carrot they dangle to keep you as a permanent serf. If you don't like it, quit. I can't wait for the day I leave.
No. There would be a huge red flag as to why EY didn't promote you. After 2 years you should be promoted to senior at EY and if promoted you likely wouldn't be leaving. The assumption is going to be that you were passed over for promotion at EY, which is a huge red flag since generally good staff don't get passed over for promotion to senior. You'd need to be able to have a good answer for this.
^😂😂😂 wtf are you talking about? You don't think another employer would ask why you weren't promoted to senior at EY? What planet are you living on?
Most senior positions in industry require more around 3-4 years experience as well.
Ss1-no I don't think so. No one needs to stick around in some awful position that they hate if it's not a good fit. That's a perfectly reasonable explanation. The stress just isn't worth it at the salaries that we are paid.
What type of senior position are you looking to get after 1.5 years of experience? Any job you take will be pretty junior role.
Some places promote after 18 months, read each job description carefully.
And at higher levels it gets more political, there's number considerations to work out as the pyramid thins out towards the top. If you're passed over for senior the only reason is because you suck or you don't have your CPA (if the firm requires it). Literally every staff that's halfway decent gets promoted to senior.
My main concern is staying in PA until October since EY promotes later, not an issue of making senior. But I guess recruiters would think it's an issue if I leave in March/April. I guess I'll stay a few more months since it'll benefit in the long run
Just out of curiosity, why do you want to leave? Beinf you work for EY, any reason is valid, but I am curious no nonetheless.
I honestly don't have motivation anymore to work in PA. I thought it was my team but this is my third team during busy season. We go home early every night so it's not the dread of working long hours either
I suggest to stick around see if you get promoted.. then try to move. If you are really unhappy, then you should look for something else. You can explain why you left before being promoted. It is a legit reason.
I started looking and can't find anything
@SA1 you're tripping. The point isn't that they're unhappy, it's that at 1.5 years experience is nobody is going to hire you as a senior when you haven't even stuck around to make senior at your current firm. Where exactly do you think you're going to find a job that pays more money, less hours and a title bump after 1.5 years?
Yeah sorry make senior first then leave :/
I would leave if you don't think you can make it to senior.
Get the title first if you think you'll be promoted. It makes more of a difference than you'd think.
