If they have you money for loans. Pay the loans. What happens if the market goes down and you can’t pay off the loan. If you want to invest you should talk to them about it. I know I would no be happy if I loaned them money to help pay student loans and they used it for something else. Say thank you and pay off the loan.

You’re correct. The better option, mathematically will be to invest the funds, earn a higher return then repay your family member.
But wait, it turns out that your family member didn’t lent you money at 0%, which means, they ate the opportunity cost (>0%) of putting that money in the market, as a good faith gesture to you. As long as you can sleep at night knowing that you you’re transferring wealth from your family because the only person you seem to care remotely about is you, by all means.
These are really helpful insights and different ways to look at the situation. Thank you! I am just going to re-pay for that is what the money was intended to do

Damn OP, you’re genius! I don’t think anyone has thought of that!
You should get another loan from someone else and use that first loan to pay them back in increments. Next, get more people and repeat. You’ll be rich in no time!!!
Hilarious. Valid point. I have a very different intention but valid.
