I think across all industries salaried employees work on the weekends way more than hourly workers. If you are paid hourly, you are entitled to time and a half for overtime work. So it's cheaper to have exempt employees work overtime.

I used to be salaried non-exempt back in my days were they just transitioned us to salary. Used to make tons of money!
I'm not expected to work on weekends, but I do it anyway because I want to start my team off on the right foot for the week.

That’s good!
I'm salary and I had to work all day on Saturday. Sometimes it happens so it's expected that we will step up when we need to. Because I am salaried, I don't get OT but can take comp. time during the week if I am able. The only problem is, I often don't have time to take the comp. so I end up losing it. I get a good salary so I really don't want to complain too much.

I don’t have any idea of how to break into the management side really. Maybe take some classes or ask about advancement opportunities at work?
