Hi fishes,
Any guess how many people are laid off from Publicis sapient in past few days? Really scared for my future as I'm also under probation period and deeply regret for my choice of joining this firm...I don't understand why were they recruiting peeps when they were short of projects. Publicis Sapient
I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?
So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

They can’t afford not to.
Lots of clients (especially retail/brick & mortar/food industry) are very susceptible to impacts of social distancing, and as long as they're susceptible, agencies and their work forces are susceptible.
Everyone is trying their best to solve these challenges, but some of these companies are in need of immediate, radical shifts in their operations and business model, and not all are equipped or willing to make those changes.
Unfortunately, these clients can't just media spend their way out of the problem. There is no awareness ad that's going to make a scared population return to normalcy in droves.
So yes, more layoffs are coming. Hopefully agencies have made a point to diversify their client roster over the past few years.
Good news is big, bold ideas stand a chance right now. We're going to look back in 5 years with awe how X agency helped Y client make a big transformative shift.
Oh absolutely. So long as the economy is partially shut down this will continue, and it will snowball in severity.
