Hi there, I’ve been told that Deloitte (London, UK) is going to make me an offer but haven’t heard back and it’s been over two weeks. The recruiter mentioned it would be around the “m2 grade”. Any idea what this pay range is? … I have 3 YOE working in NHS finance and have applied for a position in Risk Advisory, public sector. Curious what life at Deloitte is like? Does a work life balance exist?

You’re the problem. Tone deaf and out of touch. Your friend was just trying to help out.
Not accept it but the OP comes across like the whole interaction was something to laugh at because they’re so much “better”.
Personally I maintain those relationships and sock away as much of the BigTech cash as possible since you never know when you’ll be looking for a new gig. A buddy of mine had to accept a job for “only” $250k after spending 11 months unemployed. That was a massive cut for him but most people would consider that a great gig.

What is there to be confused about? Smaller companies with much smaller revenues and profits can't afford to pay what the big tech corporations can, and they pay that much to ensure that they get the best of the best of the talent pool.
Exactly this.
It’s. It just the engineers even though y’all are likely at the top.
I’m in RevOps for a large tech company and have those golden handcuffs. Even AWS came up light when I was discussing an L7 role with them.
Your friend isn't forcing you to accept the offer. If it doesn't feel right to you, you can politely decline. You never know—there may come a day when you'll look back and consider that same offer generous. Make the most of the opportunities and time you have now, and stay grounded.
