My goal is to live to see the next century. So my 60s will be my new 20s.

If you lived in NYC pre-covid, then definitely yes.

I'm 31 and I just became a dad and am letting myself go. So no.

likefunnysmart

Congratulations on the dad bod!

Truth is no. But a lot of people who work in public pretty much lost most of their 20s. So they would like to believe so.

Only if 40s are the new 30s 😉

Agree

Yes and if hadn’t already hit puberty I’d say the new 13.

Read The Defining Decade (by Meg Jay, the woman in the Ted talk that D1 posted)

like

It’s been a few years since I read it but yes I found it helpful. I recall it gave me some good concrete actions/ideas for how to envision what I want from my twenties. It talks about building on your identity capital and helping think through how to tell a story about who you are and want you want. I can see how it could make someone more anxious if you focus on the timeline and are in your later twenties, but if you read it with a clear focus on “what are the tools she’s describing, what are the ways of thinking she’s describing” then you can think of those as actionable / applicable items to work thru any anxiety rather than fueling it further

Nah. Less energy, less tolerance for alcohol, less tolerance for sleep deprivation, homebody, less confidence in handling the unknown (think about just picking up and moving somewhere with no plan).

Nope. Companies treat 30’s as the new 40’s and hire 10’s instead of 20’s

As a Gen Xer, I am LOVING watching Millennials realize they’re getting older. Welcome to the old age club! Your 30s arrived in a flash. 40 will arrive quicker than you’ll know.

Does anyone still have the Verizon grandfathered unlimited phone plan? I’ve had it on a family plan w/my mom for years, but wondering if I should give it up since I mainly kept it to stream video while traveling without worrying about being throttled, but I’m not traveling anytime soon. If you had it and switched to a cheaper plan, do you regret switching? My mom was offered a 55+ unlimited plan open only to Florida residents, but I saw reports online that people had trouble with throttling.

I recently accepted a position with a new org. One of the benefits I asked about with offer was the parental leave policy and was told (in writing by HR) 16 weeks paid after 1 year, which is as good as you can hope for in US. Now I’ve been sent the employee handbook to review/sign and it says only 12 weeks, which is less than the org I’m leaving. What might my recourses be to negotiate 16 weeks when the time comes? Also, should I be viewing this is a red flag?
