Hi fishes,
Any guess how many people are laid off from Publicis sapient in past few days? Really scared for my future as I'm also under probation period and deeply regret for my choice of joining this firm...I don't understand why were they recruiting peeps when they were short of projects. Publicis Sapient

It’s advertising. You can get laid off because it’s a Tuesday.
I don’t know this from experience but - yes if your account gets lost that’s a risk factor, your salary is a risk factor. The biggest one tbh would probably be people perceived as lazy or low performing
This helps. I knew they were all risk factors. I can only hope those 70-80hr work weeks protect me for a little. Thank you fellow Senior Copywriter.

Yes. But if you’re a favorite they’ll try to find somewhere to staff you.
Unfortunately, if you lead an account that leaves the agency that is definitely a risk factor. And if that happens with a couple of accounts you are involved in at the agency. If you a really strong employee that is dependable and other accounts love working with you that will keep you. It’s a toss up really. When an agency loses a big account decisions have to be made that often have nothing to do with you.
In my experience, the creative directors are first to go
Copywriters and CDs.
Happened to me in May. Stayed around until the account was fully wrapped up - they gave me two months severance which I thought was pretty good.
I was impacted once by an account that was lost but it wasn't mine. The person they wanted to save was a GCD (really good and really liked them myself) and they took the CDs on another business and were about to drop them to make room (didnt need two CDs) - including me. But because I was liked, they gave me a heads up that this was going to go down and to be prepared months in advance. They ended up saving me before I was about to be let go only (other CD was a dick) and found a new home for me because of how I handled the news. Being a fun, respectful, kind and not an asshole helps a lot when the bullets fly.
Anything can happen. But if you have a good rep, are a collaborative producer, and generally liked by both colleagues and clients, there’s a greater chance of landing on another account. The big unknown are office politics…can be a croc-infested swamp of nastiness that’s hard to navigate.
Happened to me
Sorry to hear that, pal. Hope you found another job or find another job soon.
Both pieces play in. Also what other openings could they put you in. There is also the new agency that should be hiring.
Yes. Happened with me.
