Are there any challenges you are looking forward to tackling this year at work? All jobs have those parts that we don't necessarily enjoy, but it's part of the gig so we might as well look at it from a different lens.

There are some projects I'm involved with that are progressing and I'm looking forward to how they develop in the new year. And yeah, there are always areas I can complain about, but as the year kicks off it is good to think about some things I am actually looking forward to.

Definitely! This year, I’m looking forward to tackling more complex projects that require creative problem-solving. Even the tasks I don’t love—like detailed reporting—can be rewarding when I see how they contribute to the bigger picture. It’s all about perspective!

Staying motivated.

I’ve been out of college for 5 years and all of my work experience till now has been in R&D for start ups and small businesses . So not only is this a new experience for me going into such a large company but also a industry (semiconductors). Does anybody has tips or advices on what I should expect as a new hire and how I can set myself up for success? Thanks!

How does a sole engineer at a company go about getting management to actually care how production machines run? I’m the only mechanical engineer at my company dealing with a half dozen cranky production managers who think that I can “work my magic” on a machine. It’s not magic, just ignorance about the machine actually works. How to I get a manager to stop caring about the end product long enough for me to actually teach them about their own machine?
