Do not give notice til you sign a new contract. No need to give any more notice than is spelled out in your contract
I had a verbal agreement during my final interview with a new company, we agreed on terms and i accepted the job offer. Days later they retracted it because the client they expected me to work with pulled out. Never give notice or breath a word of your departure until your next job is in writing. Luckily i kept my mouth shut, and kept my old job like nothing ever happened. Make sure you can give 2 weeks notice at least when you sign the new contract, more if the new company is ok with it. If you feel your coworkers earned that courtesy.
Absolutely NOT! After you have an offer letter and a start date at your new place. 2 weeks notice. This is nothing personal, this is business and you need to treat it as such. For your own sake.
You are a person with a conscious. Companies are just financial entities. It is a mistake to look at them symmetrically
You owe nothing beyond what is in a contract. On both sides
Thanks all! My conscious was getting the better of me
Nope. Carry on till you have that money locked down!
Don’t do anything until you have a countersigned Order.
You should certainly NOT say anything until you have an official offer letter with title, salary and start date on it. As far as notice, that’s really your call. It’s respectful to leave two weeks. A company might just be a company, but this is a small world. If you think leaving more notice is the right thing for you to do go for it.
R/GA1- that is one of my worse nightmares
