Are you feeling anxious about your job, and what field do you work in? I'm getting worried, and it seems like everyone around me is too. There were just five of us on my team in January. Two people have already been cut, which makes things tough. Scarier still is that we've started using some really powerful AI software recently, and honestly, if you know how to use it well, it feels like one analyst could handle it all. How are you all coping right now?

I’m an admin in a mid-sized office, and since January, my workload has basically doubled. We lost another assistant and didn’t replace them. And yeah, AI is creeping into everything. I’m trying to learn how to use it myself so I don’t get left behind, but the anxiety is real.

Until iRobots take over, you might as well make the transition into law enforcement. If AI is leveraged properly, even lawyers become expendable,

AI is dangerous, but it‘s here unfortunately, the safe jobs are low pay or inconvenient like working in the construction industry.

The golden age is fast approaching, which means, prepare for a universal basic income.

I’m in local government and it’s scary here too because our opportunities are being flooded with former feds…. A selfish perspective but just sharing because I think it’s effecting everyone in different ways.

I was recently cut from my position. I worked in Voter Services. The public thinks we only work during an election, when in fact, registrations are backlogged so much, it takes a long time to get through all of them.

I've put in 178 hours in a week. Completely exhausted at the end of each shift. Exhausted to the point of thinking about eating, falling asleep, waking up, and realizing it's five hours before you have to go into work.

I'm relieved to be out of that horrid occupation. I'm seeking 100% remote work. It's a tough job hunt, because there are so many demands for coders and programmers, two things I have zero skills in. Then the other hard part is finding a job that doesn't have you working on a weekend. I just assumed all work from home jobs were Monday to Friday. I require the weekend to recuperate.

Sharks and other fishes,
I need some career advice,
In my current company I think the development portion I've been given is kinda simple, I've asked my manager and seniors to level up my work and stuff, *which they did* but I kinda caught up.. now what should I do, should I ask them to level up again or look for better opportunities
Also, I had some Interest in CyberSecurity and I grinded it on my pre-final semester at Uni, should I try on that path as well or should I stick to development?

Hi Fishes,
I have an experience of 6 years in Production and Application Support. I have worked as middleware administrator as well for Jboss and Weblogic.
But due to the diminishing demands of the role in IT industry , I am planning to switch my career in Devops or AWS which would help me grow.
But I am not sure without any practical knowledge, will I get a job at this many years of experience in a different profile.
Do companies hire for AWS profiles with good packages at beginners level?

Need some advice: Last year I left consulting to take a job in industry (a pay cut, but more freedom, WLB). Due to covid I switched to yet another company (same industry). It’s been half a year at the new place and I absolutely hate it. Not the work, but the company genuinely sucks. Considering a) mba for next fall (just as a reset) or b) job hopping yet again. I’m so demoralized that the past two industry jobs have gone so badly. I’m starting to regret not just staying in consulting...

I feel under qualified at work but I also don’t know how much of it is in my head or in reality. I head a team and they seem to be happy… but I’m also personally not satisfied what we’re delivering is enough… so I have this weird mixed feeling of the stuff we’re doing not really being that stretching, but at the same time I feel out of my depth. I really don’t know what to do and whether to hold on in the hope I’ll learn something or go back to a lower grade and a more comfortable life.

My partner got a City of Toronto offer. Salary band is 104-121k. HR asked for his expectations and he said 115k. HR came back with a 106k offer stating nobody on the team makes that much so they cant offer it. Also said she is unsure if there is any wiggle room if any at all. I’ve looked at everyone on the team with the same titles salary on the sunshine list and the lowest I see is 121k. I assume there is an OT component of some sort but also can’t confirm. Thoughts? /negotiating advice?
