A question from a youngster. Is working at a big big company with slightly low pay better or working at a much smaller company with higher pay better?

In the future, after a few years, let’s say I’m at a small company and want to switch to big big company, will the “small names” hurt my chance to get into the big doors?

I mean big big company is like 10x bigger than the small one if this was a factor. Assume everything else the same, WLB, commute, teams, etc.

Will getting a low tier rating also affect your career when you are switching companies?

I started out as a graphic designer. Worked for about 4yrs in different roles. Then i started a digital design role for 2 yrs and then made my transition into ux. i have been in a ux role for 5 years. But i want to steer my career towards something more creative. Like in 5-10 years I wouldn’t want to be a specialist or a ux director. I d like to be an art director or creative director. I love branding & marketing but also product. Asking for wife who's also in banking. If she got ~$100k in signing bonus in 2019 for 1 year commitment in CA and started FT in July 2020, assuming she leaves before July 2021, can her employer claw back full amount in California? Some say it's much tougher to do so under CA law but wonder if anyone has any insights. Banks won't likely care about analyst signing bonuses, but associate bonus at EB with diversity bonus can be significant. If she quits before, she won't be going to another bank.
