Life is never fair. Ever.
Count your blessings.
Only in the US are we as a people expecting things to be good or work in our favor as the norm. Most of the rest of the world expects bad things to happen.

@BCG1: oh please! This is such a sheltered view of the world and is completely untrue. For starters Australia and New Zealand have virtually eliminated the coronavirus and think they are the luckiest countries to live in. They view the United States as a racist, virus-ridden country with a clown for a President. And they’re not wrong.

You should count your blessings that this happened while you are early in your career. You dont have much to lose. And 40 years to grow your wealth. Your next crisis will cost you more.

You aren’t two years behind in salary growth if raises aren’t a thing this year. You stay in the same relative spot compared to the pack.
Tell you what, march in two protests, talk to 3 people who lost love ones to COVID, and volunteer at a food bank for 4 hours, AND talk to the people you meet. See if that doesn’t alter your perception of fairness regarding you not getting a raise your first year out of undergrad - while we are in a global pandemic and witnessing a worldwide economic meltdown.

^exactly!!!
RSM has been laying people off left and right during these times. You may not have a choice in being able to staying at the firm anyway.
Start investing, day trading/swing trading. You can easily make that money back and some. Now is the best time to start in this economy.
Life is never fair, and you are allowed to complain, but don't forget what you have. Be thankful you have a job. Be thankful you can provide for yourself and your family (if you have one) right now. Having a defeatist attitude (and im not saying you do) in the world we are currently living in is only going to bring unhappiness. A handful of my friends lost their jobs because of the current economy... hundreds and thousands of people are praying to have even a fraction of what you do. Focus on the positive, and if you feel yourself feeling upset about something out of your control, focus on what is in your control, and what about your current situation is good.

Ohmyglob, grow tf up. I hope this is a joke because it made me laugh. Jeez.
Your raise at this level is a drop in the bucket to your future earnings. Having an income is better than zero at this point. Focus on the positive. RSM is really cheap anyway
75,000 * 5% raise ~ $300/mo. Why don’t you find a way to save that much on the back end over the next year. I think you’ll still be able to pay off loans, save for a house etc.
RSM is still doing raises....
