Selected in a Big4 firm and one MNC shortlisting is going on, hopefully will be selected within 7-8 days. The MNC will be offering good package, but Big4 is just giving 20% hike in my salary and waiting for my decision to say yes or no,to proceed further with offer letter. Query :1. If I say yes to the Big4, and when they issue the offer letter, and then I reject, can they blacklist me. 2. Also if accept the offer and say no, in that case can they blacklist me from their firm.EY Deloitte KPMG PwC

Offer to pay as a goodwill gesture. Partner will pick up the tab.

As a newly retired partner, you asked so you should go to the counter and “insist” on paying. The partner will likely insist on paying and you should be gracious and accept them paying. I think both parties can afford a cup of coffee. If not, both should change firms immediately.
You should offer and be prepared to pay.
It’s coffee - if you get to pay it’s a win.

Think of it this way, without you asking them to coffee would they be spending that money on that coffee? The answer is no.
So you are the variable that has impacted their day and now you want to not only accommodate your request for time but expend their pocket as well?
Ultimately, yes you make waaaaay less but you initiated it (like with dates), so you pay!

No good lawyer rambles.
Answer first. Explain second. It’s that simple.
Frankly you should be paying the partner for the privilege of working there

You should just pay. Don’t offer. Power move.
No M1. It doesn’t show a “Lack of awareness” what are you even talking about. It’s not about that, it’s about respect.
I asked a partner to lunch once and offered to pay at the end and she told me - " a partner always pays."
If the primary purpose is business, there may be a policy in place in your organization that states the most senior level person in attendance should expense it. If this is a personal get together, which can happen but probably isn't as common, then you can offer to pay.
Can almost guarantee that the partner will offer to pay and will pay. Reason for that is that they will just expense it. So really, the firm will be paying.
Don’t sweat it. The partner won’t think twice about this small detail. I used to sweat this small stuff too, than realized that no one else did.
No
At least do the reach...
Please don’t. So awkward. Partner will expense.
I don’t know what all of this is going on. If this is a partner at your firm, they should expense.
/thread.
Would you rather have $500k or spend $5 on a coffee discussion with a big 4 partner? The knowledge you will get from a big 4 partner will pay you way more than $500k in your lifetime. Trust me, pay for the coffee.
Yeah, I do.
Yes since you initiated.
Definitely ask partners to coffee or lunch. As a partner at BDO, I would never let one of my staff buy me coffee unless possibly at the director level. But the gesture to buy doesn't hurt. I'd also say, I look favorably on staff asking me out to lunch or coffee even though I plan on buying. In this new hybrid work world, just asking people from the office to join for lunch is more difficult so definitely ask the partner to coffee or lunch. You making he ask will only help your career.
Yes. What’s $10?
You should offer and try. But no partner worth their salt will let you pay.
This is the right answer
Lol!! "Should I be paying for the $5 coffee?". Yes, offer to pay, it will buy you points. Probably what will happen is they'll refuse and pick it up anyway and you just got time with the partner. Win-win-win
A counterpoint, some partners and other people of higher authority will always pay because they don’t want a perception of someone buying favor.
Yes.
